Wivenhoe House Hotel

The room was comfortable, very spacious. The staff was friendly and courteous. The historic building made the stay even more special. Thank you.

Staff kindly upgraded our room. Had a lovely balcony with view over fields. Room was fabulous. Clean and comfortable- bathroom seemed new and shower was amazing. Really loved the hotel and wished we were staying longer. Also on uni campus where our son residing so very convenient.

Stayed in the new wing, Room was clean, comfortable and well appointed. Staff were lovely and helpful and breakfast in the room was great. We also had dinner and the food was excellent despite the team also coping with 2 Christmas parties.

The hotel was lovely, very nice room with wonderful views over the local countryside from the balcony. The room was nice and clean, and well appointed with a good coffee machine. Very nice bathroom, again clean. Breakfast in the morning was lovely, good quality and nice and hot buffet. Great coffee options. Was peasantly surprised.

We had a very pleasant stay at this hotel. Check-in was quick and easy, and the staff were polite and friendly throughout our visit. The accommodation was clean and comfortable, and the buffet breakfast was delicious with a great selection. We would happily stay here again.

Clean room and great staff

Hotel went above and beyond to make our stay extra special. Staff were very friendly, building was beautiful and rooms were lovely. An amazing stay.

I stayed for one night and arrived late, so the hotel was quiet. Check-in was quick and efficient. Reaching the room took a while because the layout feels like a maze. When I arrived, the key did not work. I returned to reception and was told it was a known issue, and that it was easier to switch rooms than fix the lock. I was moved to a different room and made the same long walk back. The room was comfortable and the bed was good, but something in the bathroom dripped through the night which made it harder to get to sleep. Overall the stay was fine, but it did not feel like a four-star standard.

Clean room, friendly employees

Stayed for 1 night on business. Everything was in general fine. Room was a bit warm and no air con meant fans needed to be on all night. Dinner was fair however fish and chips were overcooked not burnt but in the fryer way too long. Lots of training ongoing with new staff so expected a few mishaps. Would stay again if in the area.

We liked the mix of the old and new in this hotel. The grounds were beautiful. Breakfast very tasty as well.

Happy.with my stay was clean and tidy,breakfast was great plenty of choice of food.Staff was helpfull had.a lovely lounge and plenty of parking as well!

Perfect experience

The room and bathroom were spotlessly clean. We were delighted to find that our room had always been serviced prior to our return from breakfast. The room was huge, with a very extensive balcony.

Room was spotlessly clean with everything you needed. Staff were extremely hospitable and attentive. Breakfast was fresh and a wide variety of food on offer. Balcony was a nice touch.

We stayed here using some Tesco vouchers to pay for the stay. We booked a Superior Balcony Room for one night. Check-in was very friendly and quick, and we were walked to our room by the receptionist. The room was lovely, but we did discover an issue with the electronic lock — it wouldn’t lock when we went to leave. We reported it to reception, and someone came to have a look at it quite quickly. Unfortunately, they weren’t able to resolve the issue, so we were moved to a Deluxe Room. The hotel is beautiful, and the old house is lovely to have a look around. There’s also a beautiful lounge where guests can relax. We had dinner in the Park Brasserie, which was wonderful. The roast beef was perfectly cooked, and everything on the plate was excellent — it was also a generous portion. There’s a wonderful dessert trolley to tempt you after a hearty main course. Breakfast the next morning was equally good. It was served in the same restaurant, with a good selection of both hot and cold options available.
