It should be 1 star not 4 star very bad location Poor service

(-) Overpriced for the Rs.28000 that we paid for 2 nights for the classic suite room which comprised of two rooms with double beds but with only one toilet. We were 4 members and having only one toilet was a real constraint. Food was average...the buffet serving area was a little stale smelling It was warm inside the rooms and there was no cross ventilation. Floor standing fans provided were inadequate. Cant take a large car (we had a Fortuner) down to the hotel hence had to park in the public parking paid for by the hotel but a discomfort, nevertheless. (+) Staff was cordial and helpful property has the old British era appeal and well preserved Hotel provides shuttle to the mall road (a steep 250 m climb) at no extra cost as many times as you need.

Amazing stay in the woods in this British era mansion.

We stayed 4 nights at the Ilbert manor in April 2015. The hotel is a boutique hotel but requires some upgrades. We found the staff extremely friendly and courteous. The food prepared by the catering staff was excellent. Even at odd hours in the evening the staff went out of their way to prepare fresh hot tasty meal. The hotel is not easily accessible from the main road but a car was arranged with a driver to drop us and pick us up at any time of the day. The views from the room facing the mountains was stunning. I will stay there again whenever visiting Mussorie.

Its a very nice property , excellent view from the terrace , nice staff , clean room , gives heritage feeling.

The Ilbert has spacious rooms with lovely arched windows and wide hallways - you can feel the presence of the old British Empire here. The Tea Terrace looks at Himalayan Peaks. We stayed in November and discovered that it has no central heating. The staff was very helpful but it took about 24 hours before the space-heater could warm the room comfortably.

This was a business trip. the staff were extremely friendly and helpful although their English skills could have been a bit better.

When we reached Mussoorie, the Ilbert Manor staff informed us that our car won't be able to go to the hotel because the winding road was very narrow. Honestly, that was a bummer and I thought to myself that I have made a wrong decision . But the way they assisted us in parking and taking us to and fro the Mall Road, not to forget taking care of some really inane children demands. I was quite floored. It's not a big hotel property , rather a boutique hotel with unusually large rooms. But what impressed us is that despite not being attached to a big chain-the hotel staff displayed such professionalism that some of the big chains. An learn a thing or two from them. Whether it was food, understanding that the child is not well and needs some kind of khichdi at 12 in he night or pure cleanliness- these guys are sure on top of their game. Right from the manager to the cleaning staff, not to forget the drivers and roomservice staff- each of them embodied that ethos of warm hospitality and discipline which is rare today.

The view from room # 205 is just fantastic. Very well mannered hotel staff helped me check-in without fuss. The car can't be driven to the hotel, they have some kind of tie-up with a public parking lot where you need to leave your car.

Hotel service and room is good but hotel is located at secluded place near mall road and one cannot come walking during evening as well and also on friday night hotel was empty and there was some hotel staff was drinking and abusing on phone outside and it was all very clearly audible.. Will never go again in this hotel for sure

Staff were excellent. The room was good and the overall space was charming. However, the brochure and the website makes it look a lot more sparkling and better maintained, particularly the dining room and the staircase. But the staff were wonderful and went out of their way to be helpful, which I really appreciated.

The rooms and staff were great! Clean rooms, professional staff and food was very good.The only thing that was not up to par was the massage. The hotel does provide spa service, but being from a foreign country, the massage was very bad and not comparable to what we have experienced in other places we have traveled.

Looking for a home in Mussourie, goto Ilbert Manor. It's a very personal experience extended by every staff. The property is made of willows and has a excellent colonial experience. The view from the hotel over the Himalayan ice cover range is very beautiful on a sunny day. If possible opt for a cottage, which can be a real good experience. Heating facilities are adequate. Wi-fi is available through the premise. Although the food is not amazing, but offers some good taste. Choice of desserts is missing. There are no bar facilities. One can adopt for room service on a cool evening even on a buffet dinner. Thanks to the helpful staff. There is shuttle pickup and drop facilities from the Mall road, which is very useful after a having a quick evening samosa at Ghandi chowck. Call the hotel before you arrive so that they may arrange for the car. During the stay I got a call from the hotel head quarters for feedback, which was really great. Overall we are very pleased with our stay in Ilbert manor and will be back we are in Mussourie again.

This hotel has excellent staff, but dirty, smelly with torn towels

If you are checkin in after 4:30 pm, You better be prepared for a long walk as the Entrance of MALL ROAD is blocked for vehicles. So it was a tough walk to us. However, the hotel staff is very courteous. Unfortunately, I had a bad experience with the Hotel bathroom where in the middle of bathing the water stopped and there is no telephone in the bathroom. So All you had to wipe off with towel and come out. They do not provide any extra floor towels so thats also one put off. The beds are good but the mattress is not as soft as you expect. So thats for every Indian hotel. There is no ALCOHOL OR BEER served in the Hotel and it is no where published. So Thats one more thing. The hotel is totally non smoking. So if you are a smoker, be prepared to take a walk. Overall a good property, difficult to reach, food is good.
