Las Dunas Surf Resort - Hostel

We really enjoyed our time at this hotel. The layout is one of the best parts—the rooms are creatively arranged around the pool and near the restaurant hut, which gives the whole place a unique, communal feel. The pool itself was very nice and a great place to relax, though it looked like it could use a little maintenance in a few spots. The food was a major highlight. We especially loved the pizzas, which were delicious, and everything else we ate was also very good. The walk to the ocean was manageable, but it would be a huge bonus if a shuttle service were available, even just on demand. Overall, it's a great hotel, and we would definitely be willing to stay here again. It has a lot of charm and we left feeling happy with our trip.

Small resort that needs some updating. It is fairly remote with not much around - the closest beach is about a 5 minute walk away. Food and staff were great though.

Simple, clean and friendly hotel. Close to beach. In hotel restaurant is pretty good considering the location.

Unfortunately there was construction happening because of a fire that destroyed the roof over the dining area recently, so that meant noise and the pizza oven wasn't running. There was a misunderstanding about the cost of transportation from the airport. The Expedia ad quoted $45 but I was told that it was an old price and that I needed to pay $100. The room itself was nice and clean, unfortunately there wasn't a light in the bathroom. The pool and dining area was also clean.

I’ve heard the hotel had a fire. I hope the wonderful staff is taken care of by the owner.

Fantastic place. Went with my wife and dog. Food is really really good, place is nice, quiet and clean. All around a great stay. Definitively planning on visiting again.

Realmente cumplieron mis espectativas, el lugar es muy lindo, bien cuidado, todo muy limpio. El personal en general es gente muy alegre y amable, la comida es riquísima y hacen unas pizzas artesanales fenomenales. Volveré sin duda.

Llegamos y el personal fue muy atento al recibirnos, la playa está a 10 minutos caminando, es un espectáculo, cuidaron cada detalle durante nuestra estancia.

Un lugar acogedor! La cabaña estaba limpia, la piscina, el restaurante sirve una pizza y costillas de cerdo deliciosas.

I couldn't stay in the place because there were no rooms available unfortunately I have no explanation what happened if the system allowed me to make the reservation and when I arrived at the place I was not available

This place is not actually on the beach, to surf the boom of s about a 30-40 minute walk. The staff was awful with exception to their new lady I believe the manager. She was a breathe of fresh air. Wi-fi never worked and the power was out one of the 3 nights we were there. They had a generator but only turned it on for an hour so no fan and no air conditioning was an awful way to end. Also we never got our 3rd breakfast we pre paid for because the power was off, but they conveniently turned on the generator a few minutes after breakfast window was closed, so we paid for lunch. I would never stay there again. Definitely our worst experience in Nicaragua.

I was disappointed by this hotel. There was no formal check-in procedure, we were given keys to the room and that was it. As it's a hotel that is supposed to be about surfing I needed to know about the local beaches, transport, hiring, tides, and other recommendations. I was given none of these things. The closest beach isn't very nice and only has surf once a day. This place is very remote, there's no shops or restaurants in the vacinity. This is fine if you have your own transport, but we didn't, so we were essentially stuck at a hotel for 3 days instead of enjoying the surf. The on-site restaurant provides basic, uninspired food for relatively expensive prices, 30-40% above market rates. Surf board hire is US$20 per day, double what you pay in better surf spots like Playa Manderes. There's no reason to go here instead of other, better beaches. I booked for 3 nights, would have been happy to leave after the first.

Las Dunas is a beautiful place with great food a wonderful staff and an incredible vibe. I can’t wait to go back!
