Carlton Hotel

Room 20 was quite difficult to sleep in due to its proximity to the roof. Those darned doves were cooing all night and morning. We could hear then moving about. Mattresses were old and uncomfortable. Quite sure a spring popped getting into bed. Stains on the dark carpet. The receptionist/bartender was a great chap. He explained everything quite well. No dedicated parking, but we got a very convenient spot in front.

Goedkoop, maar betaal liever die paar pond extra de volgende keer voor een goed hotel. De slechtste op onze rondreis door Schotland tot nu toe. Veel lawaai van gasten in de pub onder onze kamer tot ruim half 1, 1 uur snachts. Het bed lag zo oncomfortabel dat we op het dekbed zijn gaan liggen om de vering niet te voelen. Kamer is niet donker, doordat de gordijnen maar tot halverwege komt.

Yes car park nearby. The lady from the bar was lovely and friendly great service. The poor chef doing breakfast on his own was fantastic. Lovely cooked breakfast and really good service. The hotel could do with refurbishing, it’s a lovely building. We stayed 1 night as visiting family in area so served its purpose. Thank u

The Carlton staff was very kind. Facilities were nicely kept. My only complaint would be the noisy nights outside of the hotel.

Great location

I was visiting Forres for a work event and needed a hotel nearby. The Carlton was lovely. The staff were exceptionally friendly and welcoming; check in was a breeze. The room was super clean and had all the amenities you needed. The bed was excellent and very comfy. Would thoroughly recommend this excellent hotel which is great value for money.

It was a great deal, breakfast included which was very nice. A drink voucher and a pack of sweets. A big room, and bed, nice bathroom and shower and good size tv. Downside was curtains didnt quite fit windows. Heating was stuck on low so made room really warm, and bed was quite creaky.

When I booked the hotel, I had assumed the facilities would be old based on the photos, but I was disappointed to find them even older and more inconvenient than I expected. In particular, the room was too dark, and there was no hot water in the bathroom.

The room was really big , bed was comfortable loads of shops round about and lovely gardens to explore. Only bad thing was the parking there isn't any for the actual hotel . You have to take your chances in the car park up the road or park in the street beside the hotel which is limited time

Good value hotel,nice staff..

Staff were welcoming, property itself was fairly run down carpets could have been vacuumed, windows had to be propped open and some had metal straps across to prevent opening due to rot, power shower was cold and just a trickle lucky was only one night stay as i would have left.

Lovely hotel. Very comfortable and welcoming. The staff are all very friendly and helpful . The bar downstairs also very welcoming and the bar staff were really friendly.

We tried to save a little money by staying here and I guess we got what we paid for. The room was sparse, the mattress was uncomfortable, the room was too warm, and it was noisy. There is no parking on premises, but free parking down the road. Breakfast was fine, and the checkout was easy.

Low cost stay so didn't expect luxury, but a few basic things were lacking e.g. breakfast took 20 mins to be served, mattresses were flimsy, the room smelled of smoke and the carpet was not fully hoovered The vibe I get is extreme cost cutting, which is a shame if it's needed to stay in business - but it does show in the service

Terrible hotel, dirty worn out and food ghastly

I enjoyed my stay. Staff were pleasant. There was a difference in the price charged by Hotels .com and the receipt from the hotel. The hotel explained they had given me a receipt for what they were charging. I would have to go back to Hotels.com regarding the difference which they could explain.

Great value. Decent room, free drink voucher, free breakfast. Friendly staff.

We have stayed in the Carlton before & it was OK, this time it was terrible. Checked in on a Friday for a 7 night stay, Saturday morning mid shower there was no warm water. Went for breakfast, the young lad who was serving on seemed to have no interest in what he was doing, the urn had not been switched on so no hot water for coffee/tea, there was no bread for toast, no fruit. We had to complete a pre order for breakfast so they knew what we wanted so there is no excuse for items to be missing (Black pudding Sat & Sun, mushrooms Tues & Wed) Also the only butter available was a tub of utterly butterly that had the previous users toast crumbs in it.On Sunday he turned the urn on but there was no water in it. From Monday onwards the service was a lot better apart from the missing mushrooms, hot water, bread fruit & individual butters. Our room was not serviced properly I had to ask for it to be done on the Sunday so we got clean towels & replacement coffee & milk, toilet rolls - we resorted to buying our own just in case we were not given any & we were right to do so. The room was only vaccumed once in the whole week & after Sunday I had to ask for it to be serviced on a further 2 occasions, one time we had to leave our key because they had lost the master keys. There was never anyone there to complain to all dealings went through the bar staff or the waiting staff. There was hardly any storage in the room, definitely not enough for 2 people who were staying for a week.
