Kick Ass Greyfriars - Adults Only - Hostel

This was a good place to stay for convenient and affordably but I do not like the idea of sharing so that is my personal problem. If you don't mind it, its a good place to stay

I did not get to stay due to a card issue but they service was great on 2 MAY 2025. Great staff. They were very kind.

I am a senior male travelling Solo from Toronto, Canada - here on an annual 1 month holiday I take, since early retirement. This year I visited UK for my first time. Edinburgh was the last part of my 1 month exploring UK, and Kick Ass Greyfriars was an exceptional accommodation. Staff were great, lodging very comfortable, I suggest buying their breakfast. I will recommend this hostel.

Liked the Treehouse lounge and ability to sit and relax in the bar area or upstairs. Breakfast was also availabe if you wanted and lockers to hold your luggage if you came before check in

Hostel was absolutely great! Perfect distance from the city centre and their bar was very nice too. However, showers only ever seemed to be lukewarm or would fluctuate in temperature.

Excellent customer service, friendly and welcoming staff. Cleanliness was on point, shower and toilet facilities were cleaned very regularly and were spotless.

I stayed here because I can access all the popular attractions within 5-10 min from this hostel. The share bedroom was nice and clean. As I need to wake up very early in the morning and arrive very late in the evening, I wanna avoid affecting my roommate so I made a request for staying in a lower bunk bed. Unfortunately they did not reserve one for me. The female shower+toilet (floor 2) was so messy. Not much space you can hand up your personal items. Toilet paper on the floor overnight, it should be checked/cleaned in the midnight everyday. There are only 2 showers and one of it has COLD water only. It looks clean (no hair) because no one want to take a COLD shower. It seems like an existing issue for long time, please fix it. I did not know that I need to download an app for operating the washing and drying machines. And I need to top-up the balance before using it (washing 4GBP & drying 2GBP) It would be better to have an updated instruction. The connection point is named as "Cowgate" which is very confusing and I need to ask the overnight staff for help. No microwave in the common area.

My family of four adults just needed a place to sleep after getting off a bus tour and before boarding an early flight. I booked a whole room, so we would have it to ourselves, but there are common bathrooms shared. Property was clean. We lucked out and got to take part in a trivia night in the bar. We lost but had fun. Food and drinks were good. Location is awesome. We roamed the streets and walked to the castle one last time before going to bed and catching our flight.

The Hostel is in a great walkable area near Grassmarket Edinburgh. Lots of local pubs and shops within blocks. Great location. Compared to another hostel I stayed at in Glasgow, the Kick Ass had clean bathrooms, usable showers with good pressure & hot water. Having a pub downstairs with food was quick and convenient. Overall, a great and affordable place to stay if you dont mind bunking with other travelers. Everyone was nice and respectful in the dorms. No issues at all.

Ich habe kein Handtuch bekommen (zum Glück hatte ich ein eigenes mit). Bad war okay sauber. Bar war sehr nett und günstig. Der Schlafsaal war ein bisschen unruhig da nachts auch Leute nach Hause kamen, aber so ist das in einem Mehrbettzimmer. Alle waren sehr nett

El sitio esta limpio , son agradables, y es acogedor, tiene actuaciones y esta en el centro ciudad , a mi me ha encantado alojarme aqui

Everything was very good except the bathroom and showers, they are very few.

Clean place. Broken heat while weather was 0-1 degrees at night. Cold room and uncomfortable while moving throughout the space. Tried working with staff ti resolve the issue, solution was extra blankets. No warning or switch of room to have heat. No offers to make stay better.

It had a very lively atmosphere. Staff was very amazing and friendly helped us find best local places for food. Night was the best part of this place as they organized Karaoke and chill night which made it easy to interact with people and have fun. Even though we were party of 5, making new connections is always fun. The room and toilets were very clean. If I visit Edinburgh again this would be my stay to place.

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay here. As a solo female traveler I felt incredibly safe and appreciated how you had to badge through each area to get to your room. The entire place was very clean and spacious, bathrooms included. The bar below served well priced drinks and was a great place to meet people. I would absolutely stay here next time I come back to Edinburgh!

Bien por lugar, tendrían que haber avisado que todo se sube por escaleras ya que por más que vayamos a Hostel éramos un grupo de 12 mujeres grandes por lo tanto algunas habían que tenían dificultades para subir y bajar escaleras. El resto todo muy bien buen precio. bueno ubicación excelente actividades el personal, un capítulo aparte porque amorosos amables simpáticos muy bien

Located in the heart of Edinburgh, with easy access. Edinburgh Castle is also within walking distance. The first floor is a bar where young people gather, and it becomes quite lively at night. The dormitory is in the back, so I was able to spend a quiet time in the dormitory. There are no curtains around the bed here! It was the first time I was in a dormitory without curtains around the bed. I think it is better to have curtains on so that you can rest comfortably. It is recommended that you bring a padlock with you, as the locker does not come with a key and must be locked with a padlock. The key I had was a bit of an oddly shaped key, so I couldn't use it for this locker. I think you can use it if you have a normal padlock, so it's a good idea to prepare a normal padlock. You can buy it at the hostel, but it's expensive. エディンバラの中心部にあり、アクセスが便利。エディンバラ城も徒歩圏内。1階がバーになっており若者が集まっており、夜になるとかなり賑やかになります。ドミトリーは裏手にあるため、ドミトリーの中は静かに過ごせました。 ここはベッドの周りにカーテンが付いていません！ベッド回りにカーテンが無いドミトリーは初めてでした。カーテンはついていた方がゆっくり休めるように思います。 ロッカーに鍵は付いておらず、南京錠で鍵をかける必要があるため、南京錠を持っていくことをお勧めします。私が持っていた鍵はちょっと変わった形のカギだったため、このロッカーには使えませんでした。通常の南京錠だったら使えると思うので、通常の南京錠を用意していくといいです。ホステルでも購入できるけど高いので。

The facilities are very clean, and I appreciate that. I had not stayed in a dorm-like environment for nearly 40 years, but it all worked out just fine. Thank you!
