The Marmalade Hotel

Beautiful hotel. Room was spotless and staff so helpful. Breakfast was delicious!

We loved our stay here. Everything was clean and it smelled good when you entered the room. We also loved that they had an Nespresso machine and pods. The staff were friendly and helpful

We were overall disappointed with our stay at the Marmalade. Good: Located in beautiful Portree on the Isle of Skye, right near the main square and centrally located on the Island. The room was well appointed and comfy. Bad: The door to our patio would not lock properly unless you forced it, almost to the point of breaking. Making dinner reservations at the restaurant was difficult. The gentlemen at the desk directed us to the restaurant but no one was there. We waited several minutes and looked around before going back to the desk where the woman whom now sat there happily made the reservations for us with no issue. The restaurant itself was underwhelming for both breakfast and dinner. While the food was serviceable, the quality did not match the price, especially for breakfast. The breakfast hostess did not welcome us the first morning we went. We stood at the podium waiting to be seated for almost ten minutes before she noticed us. She sat on her laptop at one of the tables. We had no idea she was the hostess, we thought she was a guest or we would have said something. It was frustrating. When we checked out, our bill was not correct. Their system was down due to weather messing with the power and WiFi, but after explaining multiple times we paid our dinner bill at dinner, so should only be charged for three breakfasts, it still wasn't correct when they sent it by email. They undercharged, so I let it be. Unfortunately, I would not stay here again.

Wonderdul place! Upon arrival, Stephen at front desk was extremely helpful and friendly! Ensures that we were happy with the room selection and was more than happy to help with all questions and to suggest dining options. Room was very clean, well appointed and the King bed very comfortable. Highly recommend!

Room was in good condition. There were no amenities that were able to used, needed to go to the sister hotel in town. The outside of the hotel is unsightly (the garden is pretty, but the building is not in great looking condition). For the price, the entire experience was underwhelming by a lot.

Lovely hotel, handy location, nice decor and very clean. Snow and ice was bad when we arrived though and the hotel had no grit/salt for the car park which resulted in our car getting stuck....not great considering the location of this hotel. Staff were friendly but not overly helpful with the salt situation.

O hotel é razoavel, no entanto, se voce nao tiver sorte, irao te acomodar em uma suite para necessidades especiais que fica fora da estrutura principal do hotel. O chuveiro é impossível de tomar banho, nao sai agua de forma adequada, ha uma cadeira enorme na area suposta do box que atrapalha bastante a mobilidade. Ao solicitar uma troca de quarto, me cobraram 90 libras. As amenidades do hotel sao otimas, cafe e chocolate quente de ótima qualidade.

Last minute booking (back in August) that did not disappoint. The man at the front desk was exceptionally helpful.

Nice hotel with easy access to the town centre. Friendly staff. Pull out sofa wasn't terribly high quality and expected a better mattress for the money spent. Nice appointments throughout and breakfast was good.

Cancelled our reservation when we arrived on a Monday only to find that the restaurant is closed Sunday & Monday. This information is not on their website and it should be very prominent when you make a booking, even if it is through a 3rd party like Expedia. They bury the info in small print towards the bottom of the booking confirmation, No help at all regarding an evening meal despite my wife being a brain injury survivor. A shocking company with no compassion and not at all helpful. They hide key information and then won't refund. I wouldn't trust them on iota.

The room was beautiful and clean. The property next door was not attractive. When you drive in the yard on the right hand side the area is a mess. The hotel itself is beautiful.

Fantastic room with the best bed!

So this was advertised as "luxury hotel". Far from it. I paid over 500 a night for basically a box with a tiny window almost on the ceiling that overlooked the parking lot. Staff dressed in suits/formal attire, but that does not a luxury hotel make. Feel really ripped off, avoid this overpriced hotel. Location was good, so at least that is something.

This hotel was very nice. We had a pretty view of the gardens and Skye mountains in the background. The breakfast was way above average.

I was very impressed when the staff purchased coconut milk especially for me as I am allergic to other forms of milk . I appreciated their efforts and friendly manner

The outside of the inn isn’t much to look at but the inside is very well designed modern stylish. The rooms are all updated renovated bathrooms. Great views! Breakfast had a good selection choices to order. I got the avocado toast with eggs on it, yummy! Close to the town to walk for dinner.

Lovely place

Apparently the area restaurants are closed on Mondays or close very early. I booked this hotel because it had a restaurant and bar. I feel it should have been disclosed that it would be closed when I booked.
