The Waterfront Hotel & Bistro

Excellent for a short stay, good value for money and central to the seafront.

We were put in the annexe, Rm18. Very clean, huge bed, suited us just fine. Staff - the amazing Laura!! Super helpful, lovely lady who knew everything there was to know about the hotel. Always smiling and happy. Also have to mention the young man who was working during our stay, he had red hair, unfortunately didn’t get his name, he was really nice and helpful. Breakfast was okay, did a good vegetarian breakfast for my husband, which he thoroughly enjoyed. Had an evening meal- great value and delicious. Cannot complain about anything about the hotel. A really enjoyable experience.

Great stay at the Waterfront. Staff lovely and so attentive. Being Coeliac i was well catered for and so much choice for dinner and excellent breakfast options. Room was compact but enough for an overnight stay and for the price really no complaints. Would recommend.

Although the "king size double" was in fact "bijou", the room was fresh and adequately appointed. AND was warm when we arrived A big PLUS! The "ensuite" needed a few contortionist moves to negotiate, but call it characture! Evening meal bit slow in coming but certainly okay A good selection Not the usual variations on a burger only that seems to be SO common these day, Breakfast very good value. All in all pleasant stay Would go again.

Weren’t told we’d be in the annex when booking. Luckily we didn’t have any accessibility difficulties (or a couple of stone heavier) or the narrow staircase would have been difficult to navigate. The room was clean enough, bathroom adequate, shower awful but the biggest annoyance was the really loudly squeaking floorboards. They were bad for us but must have been worse for those downstairs! I took to traversing the two single beds (not KING size like advertised) to avoid some of the squeaks. The full Scottish breakfast (I’m told) was very good and we couldn’t fault the staff at all. Whilst appreciating that the property is older than some and therefore has “character” when this forces you to play “floor is lava” to get to the bathroom it impacts on your stay. Ps The hotel is in Portpatrick NOT Stranraer Portpatrick is lovely’ Stranraer not so much Port Pantry was the best meal we had 👍

We enjoyed a one night stay in room 3, it’s petite very cosy and had everything we needed for the night. We ate dinner in the Hotel Saturday 7th and breakfast on the morning 8th, both meals were fantastic. Thankfully the Hotel doesn’t do a hot buffet and the Scottish breakfast was hot, freshly prepared and the best we’ve had in a long time. We saw the same two staff members for checkin, dinner and breakfast, very polite, friendly and incredibly helpful.

Lovely wee hotel staff helpful nice breakfast 👍 The room was very small the ensuite was far to small I husband could hardly get in it . But my sister got bigger room harbour view . 👍

The view from room 1 was amazing. We had dinner there twice and 3 breakfasts and every meal was lovely. All the staff were amazing but the staff member on last night and night before (Sunday and Monday) was outstanding. Very attentive and really nice.

Friendly staff, great value for money, good food. Only downside was very small en-suite

We had a one night stay in a room with a waterfront view. The door to our room had no door handle just a small knob in the centre which we had to grab to pull it shut. It was extremely stiff and hard to open. There was a large mirror which wasn’t hung up just propped up against a wall which made it useless. The bathroom had a bifold door and was extremely narrow. The sink was problematic when trying to wash my face because it was too small and narrow. Not enough room to place your towel. The view was lovely. The room was warm and comfortable but had seen better times.

Clean and welcoming

Very friendly welcome, great food. We had a standard room but it had everything we needed the only issue was that the shower room was small but we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Staff were brilliant, so welcoming on arrival and throughout our stay, can't thank them enough. For the price of the room on our budget was absolutely spot on. TV, small ensuite and very warm and cosy. The bed was very comfy. Room was very clean with toiletries provided and everything we needed for our overnight stay on the way to ferry at Cairnryan. In fact we highly recommend this hotel for its convenience to the ferry port and value for money, you won't beat it on price. The food was lovely, extremely generous portions for our evening meal. My husband had steak, very thick and perfectly cooked and I had small fish, which was quite big so I recommend. Breakfast in the morning, was everything we needed, cereal, toast, tea, coffee, juice, full english or create your own and many other choices - all included in the price of your stay. This was our first time in Portpatrick (which is a lovely harbour town) and we will definitely be returning to stay at The Waterfront Hotel & Bistro. Definitely highly recommend for good value, great service and lovely food in a delightful place.
