A wonderful guesthouse, friendly gracious hosts good breakfast - and Sutherland is a special place!

The Blue Moon is a lovely guesthouse in a very small town in the middle of nowhere. People come to Sutherland to look at the heavens. There are no fancy hotels in this town, so my rating is based on my expectations for a place to stay in the desert, not a five-star hotel in a major city. My wife and I went to Sutherland for two nights of stargazing and wanted a comfortable place to stay. The Blue Moon exceeded our expectations. The owners went above and beyond the call of duty to make sure our stay was enjoyable--including giving us directions to the Ouberg Pass to watch the sunset and a bucket of ice to cool a few beers. I would love to come back to Sutherland. If I do, I will stay at the Blue Moon again.
