Pensión San Ignacio Centro

I wish I had paid more attention to the reviews. The room was extremely basic and not clean. The pillows were thin and uncomfortable, and the sheets felt like cheap polyester. There was hair on the pillow and in the bed. I was itchy the first night and thought it might be the sheets, but by the second morning both my mother and I had small red bumps on our skin. We looked up information about bedbugs and cannot say for sure that is what it was, so I am not claiming that, but it was concerning. The headboard had a visible body shaped stain that looked like it had never been wiped. The floors also seemed like they needed a deep cleaning. Noise was constant because the walls and floors are thin, so you hear footsteps above and traffic if your room faces the street. The room was also very hot with no AC and only a small fan. I messaged through Hotels the first night asking if we could cancel the second night because we were uncomfortable. The manager refused, said my mom liked the hotel (she was friendly when we check in and said she liked the location) and accused me of ‘threats’ when I said I would write a review. Some back and forth between them and he refused a refund. Later, at around 5 pm, I received a WhatsApp message from a number I did not know saying the stay was non refundable because we had not checked out by noon, something he never mentioned earlier. The building feels old, but everything works well. Service and communication is friendly and useful. We were very pleased with the staff and the way we were treated. The room is basic, solid and in perfect working order. It's a bit dark and tends to feel stuffy, so it's important to keep the windows open for ventilation. The best about Pensión San Ignacio is the location, right at the Good Shepherd's square, within walking distance of the railway station, the Euskotren station and the old town.

We loved staying at Pension San Ignacio Centro. It is a small family-style pension with good clean basic amenities. It is located in a quieter part of town, next to the beautiful cathedral and several local restaurants below and around the corner. But, the highlight of staying here is Javier, the concierge/manager. He is fabulous and treated us like family. He walked us around the neighborhood introducing us to the best places and cafés. They say he is more famous than Bruce Springsteen. If you stay there, ask hims to tell you the story and be sure you treat him like gold.

This property is near the bus terminal and city centre. It was quiet in the room, and I felt very comfortable.

Very good place to stay in terms of location and comfortableness of the room. It was difficult to find the entrance as the sign was small.

Location is perfect. Close to everything. View outside the balcony is beautiful. Quite neighborhood. Parking next to the hotel. It is more a hostel than a hotel. Easy check in . Basic facilities . Good stay for 2 days. Did not spend much time in the room .

Lovely place near the Cathedral and within a 10 minute of the old town. The host was very informative, friendly and accomodating. Room was a good size and clean and the small balcony was a bonus. There are a few cafes nearby, perfect for breakfast.

Javier was an excellent host. The hotel is clean, centrally located and the aervice was superb. Would have no doubts about staying here again.

I got a text from staff that I had to check in before 930pm or I would not be able to check in. My flight was delayed and I was not going to be able to make it in before 10pm. When I reached out to explain, I was not met with any understanding, I will spare the details. Luckily I had friends who arrived in the area ahead of me and they were able to check me in at the 9:30 cut off. I also got some bug bites in the night at this hotel and the bed did not seem clean...although the location was beautiful, I would not stay here again... Highly recommend this area and swimming in the sea at the near by beach!

Javier was great!!! We had a great 2 nights here!! The cathedral was nearby so that was our point of reference when we traveled in and out of town. Everywhere we wanted to go was within walking distance. We would definitely stay here again.

stayed here for 1 night on route from England to Alicante the hotel is a little hard to find but in a great location i originally parked in the underground car park but reception guy (very helpful) said it will cost 22 euro per night. he explained that if i can find a parking spot with red/blue squares it is free from 8pm until 9 am so that's what i did a bit hard to find but got one about 5 mins walk away. The parking warden even helped me buy a ticket to cover from 7pm to 8 pm 2 euro. the hotel is basic but clean & very comfortable lovely French doors opening up right opp cathedral old town is just 10min walk lots of little bars in the streets right outside no teat or coffee facilities but a machine in reception coffee or hot chocolate 50 cents and it was good
