Arugambay Roccos

At first glance on Booking and Expedia, the photos suggest a luxurious boutique stay, but the reality did not match. For the price, the standard felt closer to a budget hostel. The bathroom was grubby, with only one towel each, no hand towels, and a floor towel that needed replacing. Fixtures were old, with rusty shower heads and taps, and there were cracks in the walls. Rooms were sparsely furnished and the kitchen/restaurant area looked unclean, with staff often sleeping in view of guests. Housekeeping was poor. The cups from our welcome tea stayed on our balcony for the entire stay, and the doors were shabby, some not closing or locking properly. The pool umbrellas were worn, stained with bird droppings and full of holes, not a pleasant view from the balcony. There were positives. The location is ideal, right on the beachfront, and the staff were friendly, offering free breakfast each morning. However, with so many inviting cafés nearby we chose to eat elsewhere. What disappointed most was the gap between the photos and the reality. If it had been advertised as a hostel I would not have minded as much, but the presentation and price raised expectations it could not meet. With a deep clean, basic maintenance, fresh paint, and small touches like new linens and working locks, the property could quickly improve. For now, the location is its strongest feature, but the care and detail expected for the price are lacking.

We were 2 couples that stayed at Roccos for 2 1/2 weeks. Beautiful pool area, excellent service and really good food! We had breakfast included and tested all the tasty Sri Lanka dishes. The staff are all really friendly and helpful. We will definitely stay at Roccos if/when we return to Arugam Bay <3

The location was nice had food beach access and the pool was nice for dipping in .

The hotel doesn’t look like the photos that were advertised. Lots of distributions including very loud music until the early hours of the morning. No change of facilities or cleaning of the rooms. Very overpriced for what it was.

Location is perfect but the hotel needs a huge refresh The bathroom was horrible very old and dirty

Casual environment. More ideal for young surfers

The staff were friendly and lovely. Unfortunately, the place was not great. We had no WiFi and the rooms were not that clean. Lots of dust under the bed and old sheets. They had dogs all over the property and there were two dogs that would chase people walking along the beach. No curfew at the pool and all the rooms face the pool. I was up past 10:30 listening to people in the pool. No kettle, tea or coffee in the rooms, but the staff did make tea for us and we did not get charged for it. If the rating was just on the staff I would give it a 5.

Niente da dire per il direttore gentile e aprensivo ,ma il resto terribile ,abbiamo dormito una dola notte ,poi ci siamo spostati in un altro hotel sempre di loro proprietà, leggermente meglio,poi abbuamo deciso di andare via ,scelta azzeccata,abbiamo deciso di girare lo sri lanka da nord a sud....

Great stay at Roccos. Staff was great. Quiet as it was the end of the surfing season. Will go there again.

Muy caro para lo que se ofrece… la habitacion muy básica y el baño da entre miedo y asco… no volveria aqui y menos pagando ese precio

We love to stay at this hotel! Everyone was very friendly and helpful. We (2 young women traveling alone) felt so safe and everyone was looking out for us. The food was also very good and the location was just stunning. Would definitely come back an recommend this to everyone.

Amazing staff, so friendly and beautiful people! The resort was stunning and clean.

Our experience of the Rocco’s was excellent! We’ve stayed there for 2 weeks on half board and everything was just great. The room are simple but comfortable, we had a cube on the upper floor allowing to store all our surfing equipment on the side in the shade and dry everything the same way. All the people working there are extremely kind and professional and always here to help in any ways they just took all this experience to the next level. Amazing place with amazing people

the staff were the best!!! The location and view was amazing and the pool area gorgeous.

Well overpriced. Only a small sheet to sleep under, no bathroom products, air conditioning hardly worked, they didn’t make up the room unless asked, pool was heavily chlorinated, there was no fridge or safe and the property had a terrible smell. Not worth the value at all
