Lakewood Residence

The roof terrace was nice as it gave a great view of the lake and temple. Our room was very clean, we had a good night stay here. Staff were all very friendly and helpful.

I had mosquitos in the room and not hit water in the morning

Sehr modern und schön eingerichtet. Das Zimmer war groß und sauber, ebenso das Bad. Der Blick auf den See war toll. Das Personal war hilfreich und hat u.a. Tipps zum Essen gehen außerhalb des Hotels gegeben. Das Stadtzentrum von Kandy und der See sind fußläufig erreichbar. Einzig der Pool lädt nicht besonders zum Schwimmen ein. Aber wäre er sauberer, hätte man beim Baden im obersten Stock einen tollen Blick über Kandy gehabt.

Trevligt relativt nytt hotell med få rum. Vissa rum är dock undermåliga och rekommenderas absolut inte att bo i. Detta gäller de rum som beskrivs som ”rum med balkong mot park eller rum utan balkong. Dessa rum ligger mot baksidan och är väldigt lyhörda. Väls rum med utsikt mot Kandy lake.

We stayed here for 3 nights. The staff were helpful and friendly, and the hotel was clean and tidy. We booked a lake view room which had a lovely outlook - though beware no matter where you seem to stay in Sri Lanka you will be woken by the call to prayer at 6am so take ear plugs. Our room had a balcony, and the warnings for monkeys should be taken seriously as we woke up to them running around outside every day (stealing whatever is left around). Our room also had a window facing into the hotel, it had blinds so privacy was fine but meant we did have bright lights shining in our room during the night - fine for us as we had sleep masks. The pool on the roof is lovely, cold and refreshing! We had the breakfast each day which was great, lots of fruit, toast and some Sri Lankan options too. The hotel is also really handy for walking into the centre of Kandy, about 5-10 mins - just head down the steep path next to the hotel.

The actual location of the hotel is down a narrow path next to a temple so it can be missed. The room was clean and so was the bathroom. There small improvements that could be made to the room in terms of space to store your luggage or table space in the room. Overall the experience with our stay was good.

Stunning views, beautifully appointed property, very pleasant staff willing to please - everything one could wish for a short stay in Kandy. Highly recommend checking this property out. Good value too compared to other accommodations/hotels. Only tiny drawback was that it was slightly difficult to find as it is well tucked away in the hill above the lake. Very walkable into the town (10 mins to centre) or tuk tuk right at door if you prefer.

Beautiful view, great location, very friendly and helpful staff, Scandinavian type design, excellent breakfasts, lovely little lap pool 🏊‍♂️ with great view over Kandy Lake, walking 🚶‍♂️ distance to everything.

Wasn’t nice at all as expected. We had the room right next to reception and could hear everything happening there. It was noisy and dark as there were no windows where we could open the curtains for sunlight. The only windows we had faced the whole reception area and the second was facing the driveway where people parked their cars. The floor was dirty like it hadn’t been mopped and there were bugs crawling onto the bed. Hotel staff were friendly but didn’t make up for the above points. I would definitely not stay here again nor would I recommend anyone else to. Should have stayed at Ozo which was down the road and much nicer.

We had a very negative experience with this property. Upon arrival around 3:00PM to check-in, we were informed that our reserved rooms (2 of them) weren't available. Apparently, since we didn't pre-pay for the room, it was given up to someone else. Unfortunately, we were not informed prior to arrival and we had to find some other accommodation at the last minute. And most of the hotels were fully booked because of a big cricket match happening in town! Also, we received a very weak apology, almost as if it was our fault for not pre-paying. This experience was very disappointing, not to mention extremely unprofessionally on the part of the hotel. I find it very one-sided that travelers can be penalized for canceling too late or not showing up for their reservation, but hotels are free to cancel your room without any penalty. To travelers considering this hotel: book at your own risk... this property might give up your room if you don't pre-pay.

Like other people mentioned before, the property is hard to find. You need to climb a steep path to the left side of the police booth. Room was good. Although I booked a “Deluxe Family Room, Balcony, Garden View”, they first gave me a standard room, but the manager later rectified this by offering me a nice room with view on the lake. The biggest disappointment was the breakfast. Probably the most Spartan I had in Sri Lanka. Just slices of white bread, two eggs, some veggies, marmalade and instant coffee or tea. I’ve had better in a Youth Hostel. Location is fine. I would not return here. Feels overpriced for what you get.

Well located, an easy walk into centre of Kandy. Good breakfast but disappointed with our room which was in the basement with windows opening into the garage! Other rooms looked ok so maybe we were unlucky.

The hotel staff was very kind in trying to accommodate us. We checked into our first, very damp room with one window looking into the car park. So no privacy. Due to the nature of the area the rooms were very damp and full of mosquitoes. The layout of the hotel is quite poor in that many of the rooms have interior windows only. This is not good for airing out the rooms of mosquitoes or moisture. This is by no means the “fault” of the hotel or the staff, simply a downside of the way the hotel was built. I would recommend staying in this hotel (if you don’t mind cobwebs), however, only in one of the rooms that has a balcony and direct access to the outside for ventilation and airflow. These rooms must have had less mold in the room and shower than the 2 rooms we tried. Very pleasant staff and a great location.

Staff totally unprepared for our arrival. Spent 20 minutes trying to explain where and how we booked. Eventually got to our room, which was only set up for two people instead of three as booked. Beds were comfortable and the room was clean. Huge spider in the bathroom to keep us company 👍 Pool was closed at dusk, which was a shame, didn't get to try it out. Breakfast was alright. Upon checkout, the staff insisted we had not paid, even when clearly showing reservation saying everything was paid. Extremely frustrating. After 30 minutes of arguing, phone calls, passport copying, taking photos of my reservation etc we eventually got to leave. Would not recommend this hotel, especially with the price we paid for it - just too expensive for what you get.

ヤクザみたいなホテルです。Expediaで全額支払い済みをしてから、旅に出かけました。チェックインの際に、まったく違うタイプの部屋まで案内されて、この部屋しかないから、泊まるか泊まらないかと脅されました。結果として3時間揉めて20%の返金（現地通貨、しかも差額ではない）をもらいチェックインしたが、部屋の中の施設も壊れたりして最悪でした。プールも汚いので使えないです。揉めてたせいで、見たかったお祭りも全く見れませんでした。※ホテルのシェフだけは優しかった。予約の時はやはりホテルの口コミ得点を見ないとだめです。

Albergo nuovo e con vista sul lago ma abbiamo avuto grossi problemi con il check-in. Come altri clienti non ci è stata data la camera scelta e prenotata con grosso anticipo (la nostra era appositamente scelta con vista lago e siamo finiti sul retro con vista sui calcinacci).Personale non adeguatamente organizzato.

Excellent accueil dans cet établissement très bien situé et où nous avons reçu de très bons conseils pour nous repérer sur place. Le seul bémol est peut-être le prix qui est élevé par rapport à la moyenne locale mais les prestations étaient de très bon standing.
