I can't give this place enough stars. It was wonderful, the staff was pleasant and friendly, very knowledgeable, and accommodated all my needs as an American. The only thing I had an issue was, as all of Europe, was air-conditioning. That wasn't an issue for me as much as I thought it would be as the windows were big enough to open at night. I had no concerns about intruders, strangers, or even odd bugs in my room. I had a wonderful time, and the breakfast? Phenomenal! You could smell the croissants being baked as early as 4 AM. I would recommend this place, and if you do book a room, make sure you get a balcony with mountain views.

We've stayed here twice, and it's been a wonderful experience each time. The staff are very helpful, the location is perfect, the restaurant is excellent, the view is magnificent...what more can I say? HSW has a quintessential Swiss alpine hotel look and feel. 10/10 would recommend.

I stayed on a day with lots of snow. It was beautiful. Dinner in the hotel restaurant was excellent. Breakfast was also excellent. All the staff were lovely and very friendly.

Hotel Schönegg is the definition of lipstick on a pig. It charges luxury prices, but the experience never came close to feeling luxurious.
The breakfast buffet was genuinely excellent and was easily the best part of the stay. Unfortunately, that’s where the compliments end.
The staff were about as warm and comforting as a splinter under a toenail. Every interaction felt like we were inconveniencing them simply by being guests. Hospitality should make you feel welcome; here, it felt like they couldn’t wait for us to leave.
As for Wengen itself, it’s undeniably beautiful. The mountain scenery is spectacular. But beneath the postcard views is an overcrowded, overpriced destination packed with tourists. After experiencing it firsthand, I don’t understand the hype. Between the inflated prices and the lackluster service, it’s simply not a place I’d spend my money on again.
The scenery earns five stars. The overall experience does not. I won’t be returning.

Lovely hotel close to the train station and town, without a large uphill climb. Our morning view was beautiful, breakfast was wonderful, and the bed was comfy. Air conditioning isn't standard in Wengen, but we had a small fan in our room which helped on warm afternoons. We would recommend this hotel.

This is a small, comfortable hotel, with limited amenities but beautiful views. The hotel faces a charming children’s park which is so fun but also, children in the summer play late into the evening and it can be quite loud. The rooms were warm with no AC or fans to support an unusually hot summer. The breakfast was good with some warm options from the kitchen including eggs, an omelet or pancakes plus the typical breakfast spread of breads, yogurt and cheeses. The front desk was informative when checking in but felt less supportive post check-in, when asking questions. They do have a shuttle from the train station but it stops running after 4pm, which proved challenging in a thunderstorm just shortly after 4pm. The restaurant was cozy with beautiful views and a limited and expensive, but very good menu in the evening.

We booked a top floor suite and while it was nice, the accommodations were not luxurious. The room was a bit rustic and had the feel of a basic mountain lodge. However, the views from our room from the outside balcony were spectacular and the staff was wonderful with a special mention concerning Maria at the front desk.

Helt fantastisk beliggenhet med nydelig utsikt. God frokost og hyggelig personale.
Eneste minuset var at rommet (som lå i øverste etasje) manglet air-condition. Det ble ekstremt varmt da det var over 30 grader ute. Savnet også et lite kjøleskap på rommet. Ellers helt topp.

Beautiful location!! Loved the views from the terrace! I would say they have the best views! Cute little hotel with best mountain views! Very friendly staff. Had decent options for breakfast. Location was a plus, almost in the middle of the town, 5-6 minutes walk from the Wengen railway station, Wengen-Mannlichen Gondola was right across the street.

Great cottage and location at the end of the Main Street in Wengen. Incredible views from the mountain facing terrace and the best included breakfast I’ve had at any location.
Used as my base camp to explore the Swiss Alps over 4 days, which was perfect going up the Jungfrau side, thru Lauterbrunnen and the east side mountains, or into Interlaken/Bern if the weather restricted visibility.

Clean rooms and property. Very friendly staff. Great location and breakfast each morning. We had the family room and it was perfect with a separate room that had bunk beds. Just a note: there isn't a fridge if you plan to buy snacks and there isn't ac, which was fine in May but could be hot in the summer.

Our room had an amazing view of the mountains. They let us leave our bags and come back to the bags in the room. Super clean. Awesome breakfast included in our stay. Great location near the train. LOVED the balcony room which gave us space to be outside and take it all in.

Hotel Schonegg in Wengen, Switzerland was amazing! First off, it rests in a beautiful small town on the edge of the Alps overlooking the Lauterbrunnen valley. Second, the hotel is quiet, beautifully decorated and everything you’d want for a stay in Switzerland. We enjoyed a suite with large tub, shower and the most amazing views of the Alps. The food in Restaurant 1903 is fantastic! Great selection of menu items and exceptional flavors for any appetite. Our stay at Hotel Schonegg was a highlight to our Switzerland adventure and a fantastic springboard to exploring the Alps. This review is submitted by a couple from Iowa in the U.S.
