Great breakfast. Good room, a bit tired but nice and clean. Lovely staff!

Good room and bathroom. Check in was good no issues. Cooked breakfast was very good. Would recommend the Lion.

Stay was lovely and convenient for our site work that week. Room was nice and staff friendly. Festive menu was on and I can recommend the Turkey dinner and beef dinner too they are fantastic.

Very friendly staff. We called ahead to let them know we would be arriving late, and as the kitchen would already be closed, they took our orders and managed to let us have dinner anyway, which was great as the food was delicious!

Lovely bar area and great food. House keeping needs to be looked at and a couple maintenance issues but other than that a lovely place to stay.

Nice Breakfast

Had a great stay at The Lion, my room was clean and tidy, the bed was comfortable and I had a good night's sleep. Easy to check in. The staff were polite and helpful and the food was good.

Everything went ok. The disappointing fact is that a whole floor (3rd) do not have a wifi. So for business is not practical.

We had such a lovely welcome but there it ends apart from breakfast which was ok. Staircase carpet to room awful odour and dirty, that unfortunately increased when we entered room 301. Room and bathroom smell and cleanliness awful. No mattress or pillow protectors and just not clean. If you’re the owner sort out housekeeping, spend a bit of money on some deep cleaning, revamp breakfast menu and educate staff on basic cleaning (check the espresso machine) and you’ll be good to go.

This is definitely a unique property right in the center of town. It is quaint and nicely renovated. The light comes in the windows early; no curtains in our dormer windows. The shower is tiny as is the sink. But the staff is wonderful.

The staff were excellent and the rooms were very good, well laid out and spacious. We really enjoyed our stay and would go back again if we were in the area.

Food excellent.Off street parking,which is great.Old style bath,with basic shower tap,so water went everywhere.

What a lovely surprise, overnight stop on returning to the Midlands from watching rugby in Cardiff. Impressive refurbishment of old historic building to create cosy pub/restaurent with rooms. Atmosphere in evening was super, busy, satff very friendly and cask ale excellent. Food was 5 star both in the evening and at breakfast. (I had a very large flat iron sliced sirloin steak with garlic mushroom sauce grilled to perfection and wife a very agreeable cleanly fried fish + chips in evening whilst). All at reasonable price. Room and facilities very clean and comfortable. Visit to "Big Pit" not to be missed and will be back for a longer break to visit the rest of Blaenavon's heritage sites and Brecon Beacons.

Have stayed here before and would happily return. Staff are really helpful and friendly, and the food- we had breakfast and dinner - is tasty and plentiful. The whole place is clean and well-looked after and almost feels out of place in a town as run down as Blaenavon. We love the sauna, a bit of a treat after a long day out. Our only fault with the (twin) room is the shower as it's an over bath one rather than stand up cubicle; tricky for those with long hair. That said, theres a shower by the sauna so we washed our hair fine there instead so wasnt a huge issue.

Lovely place great breakfast We stayed in the family suite it was really lovely apart from the low ceiling we did bang our heads a few times but overall a great stay Very friendly staff
