The Maltsters Arms

The hotel is in a great location, and our room was spacious and comfortable (Millenium Stadium) which was right next to the exit and made it very easy to come and go. We had lunch there and the food was delicious, although the service got very slow after our first course, so we didn't order dessert, although we did want one. We were a little disappointed that the bar closed at 10pm, as by the time we got back from the event in the Cathedral, it was too late to have a nightcap. Breakfast was delicious, and we would highly recommend. All in all, a very nice stay and we would go back.

It was all great. Nice welcome. Lots of information about travel links. Bus into and out of town from right outside. Staff polite. Food great. Rooms nicely decorated. Access easy. Parking convenient and efficient. Lovely walks in local area.

Checked in online so quick and easy and show to our room straight away. Room was spacious well decorated and warm. Plenty of tea, coffee etc. Bathroom spacious and toiletries. Breakfast freshly cooked and friendly service.

The staff was very rude to me. I stayed at the hotel part but also decided to have my dinners at the restaurant. The first time I had dinner, a server told me that I get a 15% discount because I was staying at the hotel. The second time I returned, another server told me there was no discount. She was very rude, doubted what I said, and insisted that it wasn’t possible. After checking, she realized I was right—but she never apologized. It made me feel uncomfortable and left me with a bad impression. In addition, the room was dirty and very dark. It is very far from downtown, so you have to take Uber all the time, and there is a lot of traffic. Sometimes it took me 30-40 minutes by Uber to downtown. I would not recommend this place, and I would never stay there again.

Good service from all the staff and easy parking. Strong pub ambience and good breakfast food. Very helpful and proactive to alert me to a couple of items left behind which were posted immediately. Thank you! Would orefer a room not on the staircase in future stays and thought the price was pretty heavy for the actual offering.

Few faults in room. Bathroom tap wobbly. Curtain rail loose. Bedside lamp flickering. Unavailable to choose a latte for breakfast, we were informed rather abruptly that they wouldn't make 5 different coffees for us ,although we only asked for one. Only filter coffee available. We would have paid the extra if asked. Some of our group had to go to a cafe around the corner for takeaway coffee. Then we noticed staff making their own barista coffee.

The hotel is in a great location with shops and restaurants just across the road and a short walk to the river, plus with the bus stop right outside getting to the city centre was easy too. The bed was comfy and an excellent breakfast made it a refreshing stay. We would definitely stay here again.

I stayed at the Maltsters Arms earlier in the year and enjoyed my stay. I was greeted by a charming lady (with bright red hair) who showed me to my room and exclaimed that it was her favourite. Unfortunately, whilst an excellent size and plenty of facilities, the room was a little disappointing. The bathroom needed some refurbishment: a rusty grab handle, noisy fan and protruding screws. No bottles of bodywash or shampoo for the bath. No soap. The room also suffers from noise from the room above. Next time I will make sure to book a room on the first floor. Apart from the niggles, I advise that you book a table if you wish to eat as the restaurant gets busy. The lower area of the restaurant is used for a quiz night on Tuesdays which restricts the dining area even more. Excellent breakfast and, once again, served by pleasant staff. I would definitely return.

Amazing stay from check in to leaving, nothing was to much trouble. Beautiful room comfortable beds temperature controled rooms to gour own taste. Managwr was friendly and nothwr was to much trouble. Highly recommended. Woll stay again

Good location for our needs, lovely bar downstairs, convenient for food. Several cafes and shops close by, and easy walking distance to Llandaff cathedral.

Really friendly welcome on arrival. Staff were really helpful throughout our stay, nothing was too much trouble. Would like to give a big thanks to Chris who greeted us on arrival. Room was was really comfortable and we had everything we needed. Really enjoyed our meals, we had dinner in the evening and cooked breakfast in the morning. Couldn’t fault either. Good selection for breakfast - cooked, continental, omelettes, pancakes. Would definitely recommend Maltsters Arms, and would stay here again.

The young girl who checked us in could not have been more friendly and helpful. Actually really impressive in her attitude and way she dealt with staff and customers alike. Lovely room. Were it my hotel I would put mattress toppers on the beds as they are a bit tired. Lovely breakfast.
