Lovely and clean, comfy bed, perfect for our needs

We weren’t really there that long as we couldn’t check in until 21:30 (our fault, not the hotel!) as we had been at a wedding all day so it was more or less into the room and straight to sleep! The room itself looked a bit dated- carpet & furniture could do with updating but the bathroom you would be proud to have in your own home. Well decorated and an amazing shower! If I’m being really picky then the only other things were a full bin in the room from the previous guests plus a half eaten cookie on the refreshment tray, but other than that it was ok- it served as a base after a long day. Staff were great, young girl offered to move her car in order for us to get ours on the hotel car park which we didn’t ask for, which was nice.

Other than the bed being uncomfortable and a lack of customer service when I arrived and left. It was nice.

Hotel was really lovely! We just had a room which was on the top floor and asked if we could have another fan or the windows to be open more as it was so hot in there. Girl from the bar wrote it down and said she will speak to the general manager but she only works on the bar so couldn’t tell me an answer which was totally fine. She said she would come and tell us an answer however we never had a knock or heard anything which was really disappointing. Our sleep was awful as we were so hot, and wish this could have been resolved as we loved our room and the hotel. Doesn’t seem like anyone was manning the hotel side of the property and the only people we spoke to were bar workers who knew nothing about the rooms. We would stay again but you may need to look into this as it wasn’t fair for us or the bar staff. Room 107- lovely but SO hot. We also left early so couldn’t speak to anyone as we’re off hiking so no one was on reception (again!)

Room was nice and clean, though the bathroom especially was a bit tired. Parking in the pub is very limited and was often full, though on-street seemed fairly readily available. Breakfast bacon roll is best avoided.

Bottom line, all things being equal would I stay again? Yes. Relatively cheap and cheerful albeit quite a "tired" accommodation. Functional but no thrills. Based on a typical small town high street with a range of shops and beautiful countryside surrounds.

Bala is a beautiful place to be, lots of shops, pubs, restaurants and places to walk. The lake is obviously a delight and the steam railway ride is fabulous. I'd definately stay here again, especially because of the fantastic hospitality I got at the White Lion. I couldn't have asked for more. Thankyou!

This was a good hotel but not great. Room was large but beds not comfortable and shower flooded the bathroom. Dinner in pub was good. Limited parking available

Good location for us, we wanted to stay in Bala. The room was ok, nice big, comfortable bed and large, clean bathroom, though lots of worn, tired looking parts that needed a lick of paint. The bedside table was actually broken and there was no socket anywhere near the kettle. The bar/restaurant served basic pub food and was really popular, though there are many other pubs, bars and restaurants in Bala. I feel that it was too expensive (we paid a tad under £300 for 2 nights) for a hotel that could do with renovating, though it is a nice old building. I wish I'd realised there another pane of glass over the window as the were a terrible racket from brawling men on the street during the night resulting in minimal sleep. It also would have been nice if more information about local walks could be provided, there were big glossy cards hinting at such activities but no details. I did ask one of the staff but he just pointed and said 'it's over there'

Room was excellent staff where brilliant particularly Neil and the chef on yesterday couldn't do enough for me. Great quiet comfortable friendly place.

The breakfast arrangement and facility leaves much to be desired and well below expectation for a prime Bala Hotel. Poor quality bacon However, value for money is good in a hotel screening for modernisation in bedroom furniture which is well dated into the last century. You get what you pay for. I would love to see this hotel living up to modern expectations.

I have stayed at this hotel a number of times this summer, the staff are great, the food is great,and in general the hotel is brilliant. My only complaint is that not all the rooms have a fan

Not good with food orders staff need training

Great location, walking distance to the lake. There’s lots of food spots and shops nearby on the high street, the pub isn’t loud or crazy at night so we had a great nights sleep. Building is historic, so has that charm. On arrival one of the beds looked made up, but found lipstick on the pillow and hair in the bed. The staff were great at fixing this, even though he was busy in the bar restaurant. Breakfast was fantastic, full English - the lady who worked alone, she needs a raise, get her some young students to help her out serving. Thanks for a lovely stay!
