Do not book spa rooms , in basement far away from main building, lots of ups and downs in separate lifts and long walks. And getting lost. Rooms no view except for brick wall. NEED CAR , bit isolated.

We stayed as 2 adults and 18 month old and found facilities great. Its abit tired in places and family changing room at swimming needs a good clean. The room was hit as we were on top floor but its an old building and we had nice weather.Breakfast was lovely and we will be back

This is an OK hotel, a bit past it's prime. It seems to cater for elderly coach parties more than anything else, and indeed we couldn't get in the restaurant one night due to 4 coach loads of people being given precedence. There is a lovely pub which does food just down the road! The pool is nice, but had run out of towels - staff did bring us one after a while.

Die Unterkunft ist wunderschön, das Personal ist sehr freundlich, das Essen sehr gut. Die Zimmer schön eingerichtet und sehr groß. Wir haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt. Für Paare ohne Kinder ist es sicherlich perfekt. Wenn man mit Kindern in den Ferien reist , sind die Zeiten des Schwimmbades leider relativ knapp und man ist nicht so flexibel wenn man die Umgebung erkunden möchte . Das ist aber nur ein kleiner Minuspunkt. Wir können es mit gutem Gewissen weiterempfehlen.

Overall this is a good hotel. I wouldn't choose the basic rooms. Better to go for the better, slightly more expensive rooms. Breakfast was good

Very Helpful Staff Great facilities

Lovely building and outdoor spaces, overall great stay, the only disappointment was no AC on a very hot day and the plug on the kettle wasn't long enough to reach the socket so I had to boil the kettle on the floor!

Unfortunately this property has passed its heyday which is a shame as the potential is there. If you are looking for a relaxing break forget it as it is geared towards hen weekends/ spa breaks and multiple weddings. Property maintenance is sadly lacking everything looks tired and rundown. The drawer in our bedside cabinet would not close and the shower barely clung onto the wall. Suggest requesting a room somewhere quiet if there is such an area. The staff we encountered were helpful and delightful.

BEST SPA STAY I HAVE STAYED AT! I have worked all round the country and this has been by far the best hotel/ spa i have stayed, beautiful grounds, lovely spa facilities, polite smiley welcoming staff! Room cleaned everyday. Didnt eat thier so carnt comment on food but so many takeaways to order from.

Great hotel. Rooms were large and well equipped. The shower was pretty poor and the hot breakfast could have been better. However, I would definitely come back again and would recommend.

Genuinely an excellent set up and stay, we extended after a wedding and it was a beautiful start to a northern holiday. Top tip ask at reception for discounted tickets to Beamish open air museum!

We really enjoyed the spa. My therapist was lovely and very professional. The swimming pool was just the right temperature, steam room and sauna were both very good. Only down side is there is no cold plunge pool and I couldn’t have a cold shower either. Breakfast is self sevice and there was a good selection of hot food. I asked for poached eggs, they were cooked to perfection and were brought to our table on hot toast as requested. Most restaurant staff were friendly and helpful. We had a couple of issues with our room, these were addressed quickly and efficiently and the customer service was second to none. We will be booking again soon.

Good location, access to pool appreciated. Dodgy, I'll fitting toilet seat in bathroom made a noise when in use which resulted in disturbed sleep. Good quality food at breakfast, unfortunately hardly warm!

Very friendly staff. Amazing lovely hotel. Very open and relaxed, outside is a nice area to sit and has an area where they have games / activities which is great. England were playing and they’d set up a conference room with a screen. Dinner and bar area clean. Dinner was great. We don’t have breakfast. Room was a suite which was lovely. Only downside is no aircon nor a fan so it was very hot in the room. Overall great stay but if you can ass fans to rooms it’d help.
