The exterior of the hotel is beutiful and the historic atmosphere is unique. Unfortunately, my room did not meet the standard I would expect from a hotel of this category. While I understand that I was assigned one of the smaller rooms, it felt as though the room was not fully ready to be offered to guests. There was peeling paint, visible rust in the bathroom, and the toilet seat did not fit the toilet properly, making it uncomfortable to use. This is something I would not expect to encounter in a luxury hotel. The heating system was apparently out of service and a portable radiator had been provided instead. However, it was not sufficient to keep the room comfortably warm. Since my stay was in June, I could not help but wonder how comfortable the room would be during the colder months. I was also disappointed by the service in the restaurant, where one staff member came across as unfriendly and somewhat rude. The maintenance of some rooms and the consistency of service need significant improvement to match the reputation of the property. :::

Fantastisk ståndsmässig slottsmiljö att få bo i! Värt ett besök. Som man kan vänta sig i en så gammal byggnad så var inte allt supermodernt. Fina badrum - men svagt vattentryck. Hård säng och väntat att det ej fanns AC. Men om man t ex ställt en liten fläkt i vårt rum så hade det gjort stor skillnad. Dålig sovkomfort - men ändå värt ett besök. Viss träningsmöjlighet, hade tänkt springa långt i parken - men det var mkt upp o ner på stenunderlag så för att spara knät sprang jag runt runt ca en en km lång sträcka.

Dormir dans un palais 😍 Les jardins , la salle à manger , le salon … tout est magnifique. Le déjeuner buffet avec mimosa était très généreux . Un stationnement est disponible. Les chambres sont décorés dans le même style mais auraient besoin d’être rafraîchies. J’y retournerais sans hésitation

Although we read mixed reviews, we decided to stay at this unique hotel — and we are so happy we did. Upon arriving, we received a warm welcome and a short guided tour explaining the history of the place. Our room was very nice, and the bathroom was very big. We had to work in the evening, and the new Wi-Fi installed a few weeks ago was very strong and perfect for us. The palace is surrounded by a big forest and a garden, with many options for hiking. The restaurant was a bit expensive, but that is totally normal for a 5-star palace hotel restaurant. We enjoyed the food, and the service was excellent. Highly recommended.

Loved the historical charm of the Palace! The room was a little small - couldn’t open the wardrobe all the way because it was too close to the bed. The bathroom was a good size. But the plumbing needs to be updated - the water pressure in the bathroom sink starts strong but then quickly weakens; the water in our sink smelled and tasted like old metal. The water in the shower did not smell/taste as bad, nor in the public water closets in the lobby. The bed was too firm and uncomfortable for our bodies, but we took it in stride. The walls seem thin, so we could hear neighbors walking the hall and bathing. Room television had limited channels and none in English, so a little disappointed that I couldn’t catch up on world news. Only Wi-Fi is in the bar/lounge. Above is not to complain, but rather to inform other guests what to expect. I would visit again because: * The staff were all very friendly and helpful - front desk, bellman (?), bar, and restaurant. We did not interact with housekeeping but they seemed pleasant from what we overheard. * The continental breakfast was fresh and plentiful. * Dinner in the restaurant delicious. * There is so much to see on the forest property and it is so peaceful and beautiful. * The young lady at the Convent reception desk was so sweet and helpful. Again, the first part above is to prepare others for staying. It is definitely worth staying at least a couple nights. We will return someday! Obrigada!

Chambre propre et plutôt jolie, intérieur du Palace formidable, personnel hyper gentil, extérieurs vraiment beaux et petit déjeuner bon, copieux et dans une salle magnifique.

This historical property is absolutely beautiful and amazing. The age means the rooms are a bit tight, the windows shook in the high winds that night, and I would have loved some conditioner in the room, but other than that everything was great. Wonderful, elegant bar area and the French restaurant was top notch. If you are coming to see Coimbra, drive a little further and stay at Bussaco Palace... very reasonable rates considering where you are staying. Also tour the attached convent for 3 euros more... worth it as well. Highly recommend!

Nice property ! Staff was wonderful

We absolutely loved the palace. Enjoyed lounging in the bar and restaurant as well as our room. Also amazing grounds and hiking with great views right outside the door. Lox at breakfast delicious. Our stay couldn’t have been better.

Anna was rude and impolite. Far from 5 stars standard. Horatio tried to compensate and did a good job.

All staff we dealt with from signing in, the lounge and the dining room were amazing. Thank you for all you did to make our stay such a wonderful experience. The palace is definitely out of the way to get to but is worth the drive. We were there in March so the gardens were just beginning to come alive but we’re still impressive. Wifi is not available in the bedrooms but is available in the bar/lounge area.

This was one of the most beautiful places I have ever stayed! It was truly a magical location surrounded by enchanted gardens and forest! The architecture of the building was gorgeous. The staff were super helpful and friendly! All of the food was amazing. I would recommend this stay to everyone! It is a must!
