This is a pleasant hotel located right in the centre of Alnwick, within easy walking distance of the shops, market, castle, and gardens. The building is a former coaching inn and, considering its age, is in very good condition.
We stayed for four nights on a bed‑and‑breakfast basis in an executive double room. Parking is convenient and located at the rear of the hotel. Check‑in was quick and straightforward.
Our room was spacious and airy, with a comfortable king‑size bed. The bathroom was modern and well maintained. The room was quiet, and we both slept well throughout our stay.
Breakfast was acceptable, although we would have preferred freshly cooked hot food rather than the buffet‑style option provided. We ate dinner in the hotel once; the food was fine, but there are better dining options available locally in the town.
Overall, the staff were friendly, pleasant, and helpful, and our stay was comfortable.
