Really comfy beds - great swimming pool- lovely staff

Didn’t love this hotel. Best thing was the staff. But the rooms are tired. The gas stoves weren’t working, so only pizzas & burgers were available and then we had a fire alarm going off at 3am. So wouldn’t go again.

Unfortunately, on this occasion our visit was not what we expected. We were greeted by a nice front desk staff, who informed us the hotel had limited selection of food due to issues in the kitchen. During the evening/night, we tried to contact reception/restaurant to replenish beverages. Unable to gain a response from staff after several attempts. Unexpectedly the fire alarm was triggered in the early hours by a guest. Guest's nearby unaware of the fire evacuation procedure, however, there is a poster displayed in the room. Leisure and Spa area was enjoyable and clean with friendly staff. I would hope the issues during the stay was a one off, although I will return soon.

Acceptable standard of hotel for the price paid.

Nice clean rooms and had air-con. Shower pressure abit low. Communal areas including bar and breakfast area was really warm with limited ventilation which was not good for breakfast or relaxing in evening but staff were very good. Overall was okay for cost and more budget.

The air con was very weak on the hottest day of the year. The pool area is tired as is the room. Overall not a great stay

The dining area was clean. The breakfast was nice. The staff were polite and friendly. Our room had water dripping all day and night from the A/C unit, causing a wet patch on the carpet which wasn’t very nice at all. Other than this the room was very clean. Unfortunately the pool area needed a clean and also a freshen up with decor and DIY. The showers were not clean. I was using this facility for the first time and didn’t realise there was no complimentary shower gel in the cubicles.

A great getaway hotel with plenty to do and Derby and the Peak District in easy reach. Pros: The Suite with the Balcony was a lovely spacious room, comfortable enormous bed, all the facilities you'd want and a very large bathroom. We made good use of the pool and gym and both a very well maintained and enjoyable. The hotel atrium is such an inviting space with bar and restaurant both lovely and easy to find. Parking is great too, and again access to the main road is close but you still feel firmly out in the countryside. Cons: the Air Con was a little baffling and just wouldn't come on the whole time we were there. The room itself is a bit dated, but that's kind of charming in it's own way.

Reception staff were great, very friendly. The pool was fab, nice and clean and great for the kids. The room was a good size and clean, if not a little run down. We had the top room with skylights for windows, one of had a broken blind that wouldn’t go down. It meant we couldn’t make the room dark which made it difficult to get the kids to sleep and when the sun came up at 5am it woke all of us up too. The air con also didn’t work and the room was roasting hot. It had been a sunny day so the room was already hot before we got into it. I suspect staff knew about the issues with the room prior to us checking in as every blind was pulled down except for the one broken one, but obviously I can’t prove this. We tried to change rooms but the hotel was at capacity and by the time we realised the blind didn’t go down we were already unpacked with the kids in bed trying to get them to sleep and it seemed like too much hassle. We all had a terrible nights sleep due to the temp of the room and getting up at the crack of sparrows. In hindsight we should have packed up and moved hotels. Reception staff were apologetic in the morning a advised management would be in touch, however we received an email saying we’d have to go through hotels.com to complain as we had booked through them. Needless to say we didn’t get very far with them. Overall hotel was nice but the issues room really ruined it and would put me off staying again.

Excellent reception and bar staff. Ate elsewhere so cannot comment on food etc.

Beautiful place, I like the fact that they included the parking in the room rate. The swimming pool area is lovely

Nice big room, all clean. My room was looking a bit tired with holes in the carpet, but overall it was a very pleasant stay. Breakfast was good, and the pool area was great. Would defo stay again for the next Alton Towers trip.

Young gentleman at reception was very polite and helpful. The room at first appeared clean and fresh but later realised the bathroom was old and worn. The basin showed signs of wear and tear and discoloured looking very unhygienic as was the shower. Very disappointed unable to open balcony door for fresh air as the room soon became stuffy. There was a sign on the door stating 'broken do not open'.

Breakfast was good. Accommodating for food intolerances. Bathroom was not as clean as expected when we arrived and the shower constantly dripped. We stayed for 2 nights but got a note under the door that due to unforeseen circumstances they were unable to clean our room after our first night despite seeing two ladies cleaning near to our room. No one manning the bar so helpful reception lady made us some coffees. Pool was a nightmare but it was half term!

Value for money and the venue has a pool, so as a business traveller id love to make this my once monthly treat.. a negative i can live with is the the bar does not offer cocktails. so no long island iced tea for me!

Room 310: Hot tap is air locked, balcony door very stiff, aircon was really good. Breakfast wasn't very nice, pastries were hard, hot food was basic and not very flavoursome Staff were okay but Theresa was very attentive

The photo looked good but the room and hotel lack the wow factor.
