Same friendly reception and service that we know… Same beautiful haven, that we love… We feel that a refresh of the interior and decor and art - will be a very good thing to do. Ask yourself what has changed in the hotel, in the last 3 years? Our answer is, nothing. Refresh the colours, refresh the deployment of the artworks

This was a shot stop over and I wish I could have stayed longer. Beautiful, secure, old-school hotel with exceptional, friendly service. Being an older building, there are fewer wall outlets than you may be used to. Don't expect a USB charing port at the desk. Very comfortable bed gave me a good night's sleep. The HVAC is powerful but takes a moment to figure out which control to manipulate. The beautiful shower has multiple heads and handles, so it also take a little-trial-and error to figure out what turns on what. Breakfast was good and reasonably priced. A continental buffet is there if you are in a rush, and the mushroom and cheese omelet I had was delicious.

What a huge disappointment to learn that I was downgraded from a presidential suite to a standard room- room was booked some time back, and I didn't remember the room type upon check in, plus it was the end of a very long trip.. I was made aware of the downgrade when reviewing my nights collected with Hotel.com. Hotels.com called the property . They were bounced from person to person, and hung up on multiple times. Disgraceful!!!!. What kind of sham operation is this! Thankfully, Hotels.com is going to compensate me for the difference in cost. A few other things to mention: Get rid of the instant coffee. Stop being cheap and put in a Nespresso machine like other hotels. The room was over sprayed with room freshener. The smell was so strong I had to leave the window open half the night. Reception agreed that the smell was strong and attempted to move me to another STANDARD ROOM, but it was facing the street. Perhaps, if I had been in the room I reserved, it would not have been an issue. Stay away from this place!

Have stayed here about 6 times in last 2 years and believe me it’s the best hotel in Joburg. World class amazing service. I will always stay here!!! Let me tell you how much I love this hotel: I was attending a conference and they booked another hotel for me (FOR FREE). I declined and PAID to stay here. It’s THAT GOOD!

Lovely hotel near the Rosebank Mall. The hotel has an older, formal style and ambience. The beds are comfortable with nice heated bathroom floors. The staff is fabulous. Couldn’t be more helpful and polite. Breakfasts were a choice of continental or menu. Being close to the mall made dinner choices easy. Much to choose from.

Great staff. I got a free upgrade, which was awesome. The breakfast is excellent as well. The location is safe and close to lots of good food and shopping.

Everything about Monarh hotel is excellent, from staff to amenities in the room.

Etablissement discret, idéalement situé dans une zone de chalandise, proche de l'autoroute. Très bien tenu, d'une propreté remarquable et avec un service et du personnel d'une gentillesse et d'une amabilité exceptionnelle. Restaurant avec de l'excellente nourriture et un choix de vins locaux de qualité. Parking privé peut-être difficile d'accès pour grosse voiture.

Tolles kleines Hotel, in sicherer Lage, sehr aufmerksamer Service. Es müssen nicht immer grosse Ketten sein.

Belo hotel, em prédio histórico, limpo, quarto enorme,atendimento impecável, bom café da manhã restaurante elegante e serviço feito com talheres e tête-à-tête de prata, A região onde está localizado é central e conveniente mas não é bonita, não atrapalhou. Só nao digo que foi perfeito porque o isolamento acústico entre os quartos é muito ruim

Absolutely amazing staff. The service was top notch. The decor was a little dated and the breakfast was nothing special.

Charming, quiet hotel, close to all that you need at the Rosebank Mall and the staff is very welcoming.

L'hotel è davvero molto bello e confortevole e la maggior parte del personale molto cortese ed efficiente. Però non posso dare il massimo del punteggio poiché da un 5 stelle ci si aspetta che non si dimentichino del tuo trasferimento, nel mio caso alla stazione ferroviaria, oltretutto prenotato sia via e-mail, con tanto di assicurazione da parte loro, che a lungo ridiscusso per l'orario e riconfermato al check-in. Non ho neanche gradito il commento al check-out della signora più grande della reception che abbassando la voce ha detto ad un'altra più giovane "è dura quando non capiscono!", come se fosse legato alla comprensione della lingua inglese il mio non capire il costo relativo alla voce "trasferimenti" sul conto e non al fatto che ero confuso dal momento che avevano inserito nel conto il trasferimento dall'aeroporto del giorno prima dimenticando completamente il trasferimento alla stazione che, comunque, sono riusciti ad organizzare immediatamente. Era stato tutto perfetto fino a quel momento, ma soprattutto quel commento non mi ha lasciato un ottimo ricordo del Monarch Hotel.

As a global business traveler, I usually focus on a few things when selecting hotels: • Clean and safe room; • Comfortable bed and pillows; • Warm water for showers; • Decent internet (5 MBPS or more). The internet is critical as I often have SKYPE calls for meetings and require my computer to sync shared folders with the rest of my team. During my stay at the Monarch hotel in October 2018, I often had no internet and when I did, it was very poor (100-250 kbps). As a result, I had to rely on my mobile data plan to work and function.
