The Hotel is an old manor house with a number of out building locations on the bank of the river Tay. The staff were extremely friendly and efficient, the food excellent. Some of the rooms were a little tired but now under new ownership there is an extensive refurbishment programme underway. The location with it's riverside walks is stunning. It is also greatly enhanced by the gardens surrounding the main house. My wife (an enthusiastic gardener) had some wonderful discussions with the gardener, Gordon who has been responsible for the design and planting of the beds over the last 9 years. HE is a great asset to the hotel, very skillful and extremely helpful when discussing plants. I don't think we can praise the hotel sufficiently. it offers excellent value for money and is an ideal base to explore the beautiful Perthshire countryside.

The room was very comfortable with a fine view of the gardens and the mighty River Tay. The staff were friendly and efficient. We have stayed here many times over the years and continue to return, which is a good sign. However I was quite surprised that there is no longer a breakfast buffet, which used to be one of the highlights of our stay.

Great location. Very friendly Polish receptionist. Lovely room. Great food for dinner and excellent breakfast. Ive stayed there many times and dont hesitate to recommend it.

Nydelig hotell, flott beliggenhet og god mat. Dette er et veldrevet hotell som har flott service og som ligger i fine omgivelser. Absolutt verd et besøk. Vi overnattet i sportshuset som er et billigere alternativ. Det har camping hytte preg, veldig lytt, men rent.

The best place we have ever stayed with our dogs. The breakfast is excellent. Lovely grounds to walk dogs. We would not stay anywhere else.

It was like stepping back into 1940. The bed was so uncomfortable I had to use the thin duvet to form a topper to stop the springs digging in. Hotel has a nice location.

Every thing was just perfect, just suited us for a night away and meeting up with friends

Lovely location. Riverside room which had an amazing view from the balcony. Rooms are large, well furnished, nice fittings and well equipped. Powerful shower which is great! Need to walk to main building for breakfast but the grounds are beautiful and the weather was nice so no problem. Plenty of parking

The restaurant and the staff in the country house, were very good, but Hotels.com was, I think, deceptive about the accomodations. Pictures on Hotels.com all showed the impressive looking country house building, but what we actually slept in, was the "Sportsman's Lodge", which was actually, one of many small cabins on the estate; like in Butlins or Hi-de-Hi minus the knobbly knees contests, etc. The "Sportsman's Lodge" cabins were adequate, but pretty basic, and were a disappointment, thinking we were going to stay in the country house.

Ich war mit meinen Hunden in einem Zimmer der Riverside Lodges zu untergebracht. Ich empfand das Zimmer als sehr altmodisch, angewohnt und auch nicht besonders sauber. Der Teppich im Zimmer war schon etwas ekelig. Gerade wenn man Hundehaltung im Zimmer erlaubt, wäre es schön, wenn man hier Zimmer mit Holz- oder Kunststoff Böden hätte. Das Hotel Hauptgebäude und Areal ist wunderschön auch das Personal sehr freundlich. Frühstück war auch sehr gut. Allerdings würde ich mit meinen Hunden nicht mehr diese Haus buchen ( sofern für uns nur die Zimmer im Riverside Zimmer mit Hund in Frage kommen würden auf Grund der Zimmerqualität)

Beautiful property with several buildings. We stayed in the riverside building, which gave us a beautiful country view across the river. Room had its own outdoor space. Breakfast was delicious and had many options. Staff were very helpful and accommodating with my glute-free diet, offering both GF toast and porridge. Absolutely recommend staying here.

Ballathie House is always a very pleasant place to stay. Staff are always friendly and efficient, the rooms in the main house are comfortable and pleasant, and breakfast is well presented and fresh. The gardens and river are a peaceful and quiet place for an evening walk.

Lovely setting on the Tay River and a peaceful, pastoral vibe.
