Just spent a night. Breakfast timing / menu could be better. Otherwise decent hotel. Had a comfortable stay.

Very serviceminded staff

Very nice and serviceminded staff. Good Indian food in restaurant and excellent breakfast buffe. Wifi/internet worked well in reception, but very unstable in room. But that is unfortunately my experience in all Indian hotels.

Sofitel Hotels are supposed to be 4-5 star hotels. However, this one, with a slightly ripped off name of "Softel" was a 2 star. A short list of the issues with this hotel: very inconsistent Internet and an unwillingness of hotel staff to restart routers, a gym that requires booking in advance (?), extra charges for numerous water bottles appearing at the bill at checkout requiring careful checking by guests, toxic levels of insecticide spraying in the reception area daily to manage mosquito problem with no forewarning to guests trying to access the only area of the hotel where the internet works. I don't know if there is a better hotel in Dehra Dun, so this may still be the best option there.
