Excellent service and a very clean comfortable room. Breakfast was very good and we enjoyed a convivial drink in the cosy bar. Strongly recommended.

Good location but dated facilities

Second time we have stayed here, first time was good but not so much this time. Room looked tired and in need of a revamp. The room was clean but little things light dust on the back of the doors and fittings look well used. Breakfast was disappointing, the young man who was on

I stay here often, I like the hotel, it is convenient for business meetings etc. I don’t like the holding deposit. I don’t want to buy anything on credit and the deposit takes too long to clear!

Centrally located (minutes from the train station). Bar open till 5am!! Breakfast was dreadful so don’t opt for it and dine at a local restaurant or cafe

I love staying in this hotel full of history, charm and character. You are made welcome the moment you arrive and there is lots of knowledgeable advice available on restaurants and places to visit. On my last stay, I was lucky enough to stay in the Balcony Suite on the First Floor and was provided with an explanation of the history of the suite - part of the dining room of the original club, and an outline of the menu of the time. The location near the railway station is very convenient, and yet it is very quiet.
