We enjoyed a 2 night stay in one of the newly refurbished bedrooms (Room 5). The room was furnished to a high standard with a modern bathroom and excellent walk-in shower. The staff were uniformly friendly and efficient with a good selection of beers and spirits at the bar. We ate dinner one night and the food was well cooked and of a very good quality. Our only minor ‘gripe’ was being unable to get a drink at the bar after returning from a meal out in Arundel at 9.40pm but otherwise a thoroughly enjoyable stay!

There would appear to be a plumbing issue, was in one of the 3 rooms located outside the main building and everytime someone went to the toilet or run a tap or shower, there was a lot of banging, obviously the plumbing needs repaired. The shower was not the cleanest either, could do with a good scrub. There were cigarette ends lying around the door.

an very old inn which just renovated few years before. Wonderful service bu those very friendly and helpful staffs but one problem is the rooms which located on the ground floor are just next to the bar courtyard, you can hear all the noises by the customers because they just seats outside your windows.

The staff are very friendly and helpful. The location and parking is excellent. It was an extremely hot weekend, but even so, having fans available for the rooms would have been good. Rooms face pub garden/courtyard....something to be aware of if you want total peace and quiet. That said very quiet at overnight.

St Marys Gate Inn looked extremely comfortable, clean and welcoming in the photo's online. Believe me when I say, it is much much more when you arrive. Welcomed by Lola on arrival (we were much earlier than expected) we were shown a table for Sunday lunch straight away (Food is excellent both flavours and presentation). The room was exceptional, huge main area, immaculate bathroom, tea and separate coffee facilities in the room, two huge windows. Bed was very comfortable, just a very relaxing pleasant place to be. Definitely recommended and I would definitely stay there again, hopefully for longer.

Staff were hepful, welcoming and friendly. Room was sunny, well decorated and cosy. Bar/restaurant warm and welcoming. Quiet and comfortable. Highly recommended.

Had such a lovely stay, great location, the staff were great, the room was perfect with a view of the cathedral... Had the best night's sleep, and as someone going through cancer I was very happy to see faith in nature products in the bathroom that smelled beautiful. Would definitely stay again.

Overnight stay to get away for a night during the bank holiday plus celebrating our wedding anniversary . Fantastic place to stay . Cathedral next door , castle on the door step . Stunning independent shops to browse

What a gem of a place.. great location, great communication, clean comfortable rooms and a brilliant breakfast. We would definitely return and maybe spend longer as it is perfectly situated for exploring the area. We were here for the Goodwood Members Meeting and it was only about 30 minutes drive. Thank you for a very enjoyable stay.

Really good find and I would certainly return if in the area. Rooms were a good size with all amenities, food in the pub was excellent and all home cooked including the pickles and relish. Staff were very friendly and helpful. The only thing I would mention is that the bathroom floor was very cold, being tiled and ground floor, however that was the only criticism I could make of a very good stay.

Had a lovely comfortable room, clean and tidy & well decorated Bit frustrating that the pub this is set within closed at 6 on day of arrival & wasnt open other 2 days, with no prior notice. There was no TV available in the room and builders started early. However the service from Kerry, Katie and Dave was superb and accommodated us as best as possible during their refurb (which looks great, by the way!) Would love to stay again if in the area.

From the warm welcome on reception to a very comfortable room and a superb breakfast, on site safe parking an excellent stay .
