This is my first long stay in Kyoto. So I want to stay in traditional Japanese style and this Ryokan served me well. Very closed to Nishiki Market that full of Japanese style street food. Even a bit far from train station but it surround by 3 different Line that easy to planning daily travel. Warm welcome from Ryokan owner, friendly and good communication in English. The room is clean, wide space with softly Futon that make me sleep well. I recommended to reserve including breakfast. It is Japanese style with beautiful decorative and fantastic delicious. Served at 7.40AM or 8.00AM in private room that make you privacy from other guests. Public bath is little bit small but good compact functional. At the end of the day when I come back from travel, it feel like a house instead of a hotel. I wish to stay in this Ryokan again when I revisit Kyoto.

It was so nice. I went with 4 of my friends (5 including me). The place wasn’t so big, pretty small inn. The old man and old lady welcomed us extremely kindly and were engaging in conversations. They try their very best speaking English so they can appeal to the foreigners and I thought that was very nice. The public bath was also small, but was well taken care of, I had a nice bath and well rested sleep. Inside the rooms we were provided with Yukata, very comfortable to sleep in. They even offer snacks as a freebie on the table inside the room. Next to the Nishiki Market. Overall, such an amazing place. I would definitely book again if I ever go back to Kyoto!

Great ryokan

Lovely bed-and-breakfast inn, with owner staying at one of the units. Convenient location from the main shopping & restaurant area, and also walkable to subway. Hard to hail taxi outside of the hotel when we need to go to the airport. So the hotel calls taxi for us. We waited for about 10 min before the taxi came, which is ok. The room has tatami floor, which is one of the reasons we chose this inn. Room was warm at night, with a temperature control inside the room that we can adjust & turn on/off. The bathroom in our unit was the Japanese type. A little chair was available inside to sit down & take shower. There is a bath tub too. The onsen on 2/F is tiny but comfortable. Can fit 2 people at most, or 3 people who are close to each other, I'd say. Otherwise it would be very crowded to use the onsen. There are only 2 bathing slots at the onsen anyway. The changing room outside the onsen is tiny, which was fine for us 2 people. The breakfast in the morning was filling & look VERY beautiful. It was the reason why my sister chose to stay at this hotel, and it's worth it! :) Hotel can keep our bags at the common area outside of reception after check-out, which is very helpful for us to go around the city on our last day. The only question we have is why the room was only half-cleaned when we went back in the evening. We had 2 beds on the tatami floor, but only 1 bed was nearly tidied up -- the other bed was clearly not tidied up at all. Strange.

This was an amazing place! We had never stayed in a Royal con before, and very glad we chose this location. The owners were extremely friendly, and the room was very comfortable. We enjoyed the traditional breakfast, and access to the public bath (a must try experience). I highly recommend this hotel.!

The hosts were wonderful and the location close to food, shopping , transportation and Kyoto attractions. It was hard to get the room temperature to be comfortable for me, that’s probably the only issue I had.

Absolutely incredible property and staff. Super close to everything as well. I would recommend this place to anyone interested in staying in a ryokan in Kyoto.

It was my first time in Japan, so Kyo-no-Yado Kagihei was my very first ryokan experience. I stayed for a few days and loved every moment of it. The Japanese style room was very comfortable and cozy. I appreciated the daily restock of tea, cookies, and bottled drinks. The property is located in a very convenient location as I was able to go sightseeing, shop, and even just wander around Kyoto to appreciate the slow vibe. Tomo and Yuko, the owners of the ryokan, were so sweet and kind to me. I felt so welcomed and at home. The entire staff is just as gentle and considerate. Highly recommend this property. I already miss everyone (and the Japanese breakfast!).

This ryokan exceed all expectations . The two owners of the house, a couple, were the sweetest people. Super helpful and they knew english. The rooms were so cool in traditional style and the public bath was cool to see. I will say personally i found the beds to be a bit too firm, but my travel companions thought they were better than some hotel beds. So it is just personal preference but i’d stay here again. Loved the traditional breakfast we had and the laundry service is phenomenal, you pay the lady owner and she does it for you! Overall great place and the location was amazing, walking distance from all the shopping.

Excellent to enjoy a traditional ryokan

Ryokan tradizionale carino. Stanza spaziosa. Il coprifuoco alle 11 non è un problema dato che a kyoto alle 9 è tutto spento. Non mi è piaciuto il fatto che il check out fosse alle 10 invece delle 11 come negli altri hotel. Anche il check in è alle 4 invece delle 3. La cosa peggiore è stato il cattivo odore che c'era nella struttura. Consiglio di utilizzare profumi per ambienti
