Great stay and would highly recommend

A perfect pub and hotel stay! Ideal for a quiet, 10 mins from Gatwick airport just wonderful!

The room was as described, a bit like a motel arrangement, with rooms on the ground floor based around the courtyard area. Bathroom had a huge walk in shower, the water pressure was brilliant and soaps etc were lovely. Bed was comfy, ironing board, hairdryer and great coffee, tea and cookies. It was clean, spacious and comfy. Where we were disappointed was in the welcome - no information on eating, checking out or even pleasantries. We had chosen this place to stay as it was close to Gatwick, looked like a lovely pub with food, so after a long drive, we could unpack and then have a drink and a meal before settling down in our room. Having arrived at 5.30, been ‘welcomed’, we read the info in the room and headed for the bar/restaurant for some dinner. Unfortunately, service stopped at 6pm - for food on a Sunday?! This was not mentioned in any information or upon arrival. Luckily, we found the Curious Pig in the Pantry, literally 1 minute up the road who were still serving great food and were busy. Disappointed with this lack of transparency. We left at 7.30, but with lack of instruction on what to do, nobody about, no lights on - we had to leave the key in the room with the door unlocked.

Lovely pub hotel, close to Gatwick airport. We had an upstairs room in the separate annex outside the main building. Very spacious room, clean bathroom, and comfy bed. Had dinner in the restaurant which was excellent (if a little pricey). Was leaving for the airport at 7:30am and breakfast started from 8, so they prepared us a very substantial packed breakfast to go. Overall excellent value for money and would certainly stay again and recommend.

Everything from the room, the staff, the food were all wonderful

Fantastisch hotel, super gezellig, leuk personeel, persoonlijk en geweldig leuke kamers. Ook het diner in het restaurant en ontbijt waren super.

We arrived late in the day, but what a welcome. Our room was warm, the lights were on and even the radio was playing a soothing soundtrack. It was perfect on a bitterly cold night. In the morning our breakfast was well cooked and we received excellent service. Many thanks...

Convenient location for Gatwick and long-term parking options. 16th century building with bedrooms in character separate block. Upstairs bedrooms only accessible by steps but large size with King bed, chair and desk. Large bathroom and good shower. Very good breakfast with locally sourced ingredients and large portions. We were a late check in and manager brought us bottles from the bar to our room. Would stay again for sure.

Nice and friendly, good size and comfortable room with tea and coffee facilities. Very nice evening meal, and breakfast.

Staff were very friendly and accommodating. We were not made to feel rushed, even though we arrived as the restaurant should have been closing. Excellent evening meal.

Lovely garden area to relax and have a drink in the evening. Staff were vey helpful.

Easy to get to, plenty of parking just really a nice place to stay

Need a good place close to Gatwick Airport? This traditional pub-hotel was terrific, with some notable caveats. Although our reservation was made months in advance, we somehow got stuck with a an adjoining building attic room (no alternative was available), up a steep flight of steps, not ideal for the elderly. Luckily, the weather was not excessively hot; a fan was not provided. Although the room was small, it was modern and comfortable, with plush carpeting and a king-size bed. A large LED TV was mounted on a side wall, making bedside viewing awkward. The large walk-in rain shower was nice, but the controls were a bit enigmatic. Unlike many English lodgings, various and convenient USB charging was available. We enjoyed the cozy ambiance of the pub, a few beers and a local English cheese plate. The staff were cheerful, friendly and inviting.

Fabulous would love to come back another time

The staff were very friendly and the room was beautiful but it was on the same level and overlooked the beer garden, so I think that this could be a problem in the summer. It also had an interconnecting door, which meant I could hear my noisy neighbours very clearly!

Hotel prior to travel

Amazing place to stay with history and cozy English cottage ambiance. Great friendly staff, beautiful linens in rooms, not huge so never overrun, in a quiet area about 12 min taxi from Gatwick airport. Absolutely wonderful food options and portions. Can’t stress these awesome things enough! Wish I could stay there!
