We have just arrived home after an excellent weekend at hotel 52. The girls in bar and restaurant could not do enough for us, and the food in rango's was very good. The only downside was as the weather was very sunny our rooms were very warm as there is no AC. But that said we will definitely be back.

Not a fan of remote reception and booking in but it all went well and I had a good stay.

Value for money. Clean and tidy room. A must for all. Well worth it.

The location of the Hotel is excellent if you are visiting Beamish Museum. The interior of the hotel was very good, the rooms were clean & well presented, as was the bathroom nice white towels, plenty of hot water. What lets it down is the appearance outside the grass was very overgrown & we couldn’t open the window in our room(13) which made it very stuffy, apparently a previous guest had damaged the window lock, but I think it should have been put right straight away Parking was great and the staff on checking in and out were friendly & helpful Would definitely stay here again

Review of two night stay at Hotel 52, Stanley from Friday 8th to Sunday 10th May 2026 Check-in was online only which required a smartphone and a reliable Wi-Fi signal, there are no reception staff on site during the normal working day. The outer door was automatic so anyone could walk in. After collecting our key from a key safe we went to find our room. There was a security toggle with the key to open inner doors of the hotel but none of the security locks functioned so anyone could access all areas of the hotel. This is not safe. The only lockable door was the bedroom door. With no staff on site this is a disgraceful lack of security. We had booked a double room with en suite facilities. The room appeared to be set up for single occupancy. The bed was a ¾ size double bed with a single mattress protector. There was only one chair which was very stained, one bedside table and one bedside light. The bathroom was on a lower level and had three steep steps down with handrails either side. Both handrails were almost completely pulled from the wall and would have offered no support to a person who stumbled on the steps. There was no shaver socket in the bathroom and the hot water feed to the wash-hand basin was barely tepid. The shower was warm enough. Two bath towels were supplied and two mugs for tea/coffee. These were the only sign that the room was for double occupancy. There was no bin in the room for any litter we might have and it was not clear that housekeeping was only o

Clean and convenient for my stay. Internal security is still not activated (security doors to get to rooms) but the rooms are good and facilities excellent. I didn’t use the attached restaurant/bar, so can’t comment on those.

Delighted with our room! It was very clean and fresh and well stocked with tea/coffee/chocolate, plus toiletries. The shower was easy to use, the water hot and plentiful, and the towels were thick and fluffy. The bed had a feather duvet which made it very luxurious and super cosy! The staff we met were polite, helpful and a credit to the company. We didn't use Restaurant next door for breakfast, but we did have an evening meal there (a cheese burger - two patties - and a chicken parmo - breaded chicken with tomato puree and garlic and cheese topping). The food was hot, the portion size generous and fantastic value for money. This place is ideal for visiting Beamish, or the Tanfield Railway (like we did). Seriously can't recommend it enough!

Staff very helpful and friendly, my room was excellent a nice big bed, big walking shower and all very clean. Would gladly recommend a stay here.

Check in was easy, staff couldn't do enough for me, friendly and welcoming. Very nice large room, bed and clean shower room. Definitely come back if needed to and would highly recommend it.

No meals served on site, but available next door at restaurant, which is closed Mondays & Tuesdays

Cleanliness was excellent, no restaurant for most of my stay. Walls in room are paper thin, so can hear everything in next room! Overall, booking in process very good, room was very good… maybe don’t place guesses in rooms next to staff, especially if they are ill and cough all night long!!!

Parking was fine check-in was easy. I didn't use the bar. Rooms are spotless.

Second time we have stayed and found the room clean and comfortable. The one small comment is that a hairdryer would be been useful. However, very happy to recommend and would stay again.
