Great hotel in the heart of Swakopmund, very close to the beach. The rooms are spacious and clean with nice balconies. Even without A/C, the room was plenty cool at night during my New Year stay. The staff are wonderful and very helpful with booking activities. Just a heads-up: your private fridge is located in a shared kitchen area for your section rather than in the room. Breakfast is standard for Namibia. I would definitely stay here again!

The view from our room was simply spectacular. An executive room, number 4, overlooking the Atlantic Ocean and jetty. Next to the jetty is one of two restaurants, the Tug, a few minutes walk and outstanding food and service. The room itself was great, comfortable beds, and wonderful shower with nice water pressure. The fridge was perfect for chilling wine and beer. The elevator was very much appreciated. We had the pleasure of talking to Jolande at reception, who managed to book an excellent tour for us, of the Skeleton Coast and Cape Cross. The other staff at reception were very helpful too, providing us with ice for drinks, and offering tips and answering all of our questions. The ladies at breakfast were simply wonderful, so friendly, and providing excellent service. Some good food choices, and the eggs were always a good way to start the day. We didn't use the bar onsite, as we purchased wine and beer at the grocery store just a few minutes walk away. Swakopmund is a gem by the ocean, and our stay at A La Mer couldn’t have been any better.

Stiffness super courteous and resourceful Even when the internet went down

Wir hatten ein Zimmer für zwei Nächte gebucht. Bei unserer Ankunft wurden wir freundlich von einer netten Dame empfangen, die uns mitteilte, dass wir ein tolles Zimmer hätten, und uns anschließend den Weg zeigte. Das Zimmer befand sich jedoch in einem so schlechten Zustand, dass wir die Schlüssel zurückgaben und kurzfristig eine andere Unterkunft suchten. Das Zimmer war vieles, aber nicht schön – vor allem alt und heruntergekommen. Die Jalousien zur Verdunkelung waren halb kaputt. Einen Aufenthalt dort kann ich niemandem empfehlen, auch wenn die Lage toll ist.

Very good value for money. Very centrally located and a stone’s throw from the beach and good restaurants. Room had a partial ocean view which was nice. Would definitely stay there again.

The standard rooms have been welcoming guests for many many years, but they have neither a draft nor air conditioning. The staff are absolutely amazing, and it is a delight to meet with them. The hotel has an excellent laundry service (even over weekends), and parking is safe and free. Upgrading to the newer rooms is well worth the small fee, and are spacious and perfectly serve their purpose. And the roof terrace is a must for a perfect sunset view, one of the best in Swakopmund.

This is a great budget-friendly place to stay. It’s conveniently located near many restaurants and cafes within walking distance. As a female traveller, I felt safe. The only downside is the thin walls, which let you hear guests in other rooms and even outside your balcony. Overall, I enjoyed the breakfast and the friendly, helpful staff.

Room ok but no Ventilation

Einrichtung stylish, Beton und Holz, cool. Gutes Frühstück, sehr aufmerksames Personal, gute Lage.

Martina made us feel so special and helped us beyond duty. She even checked to see if we ca wrap our luggage at Walvis on our way back to SA. The breakfast matron and bar tenders were all very friendly and made us feel super welcome. Martina managed to give us a unit with a partial sea view which we thoroughly enjoyed. The best sunsets we from the rooftop terrace. From there we could see the staggered dunes lacing the town in the East up to the lulling ocean in the West. We were able to walk to the jetty, all restaurants and shops and nearest swimming beach. Definitely booking to stay at La Mer again the next time we visit Swakop.

Die Auswahl am Frühstücksbuffet hätte etwas größer sein dürfen und der Service (Aufnahme der Bestellung für Ei/Rührei) etwas schneller sein. Ansonsten tolles Hotel in perfekter Lage. Sauber und gepflegt. Dazu ein sehr guter Service/Kommunikation hinsichtlich Buchung von Aktivitäten. Wenn man als Neuling in Namibia unterwegs ist wünscht man sich so einen Service. Weiterer positiver Pluspunkt: Viele Steckdose ohne zwingend Adapter zu benötigen und zusätzlich mit USB Anschlüssen.

Clean and safe, Good service

Mooie centrale ligging, parkeerplaats in binnenplaats, lekker ontbijt en ruime kamer met goede bedden. Het was onze derde keer en we zouden dit hotel zeker weer boeken.

Clean room, friendly staff, nice breakfast, good location

Very good value for money and the executive room I upgraded to was well worth it. Friendly and helpful hotel staff and the bar is open til late; so I highly recommend. Splurge on a higher category room as the views are great, offer elevator anccess and they have refrigerators with a small freezer compartment.

The accommodations were excellent, and I commend the highly professional and courteous staff.

This is a lovely hotel that is within walking distance of a large number of shops and restaurants! The staff were friendly and welcoming! I would stay here again!

It was very convenient as close to the ocean and shops - super for tours and self parking - roof top patio to watch sunset with a glass of wine from bar was lovely. Staff very friendly and we felt very safe!
