This was our second stay at The Tavern and we will most definitely return. The rooms are beautifully decorated and have all the amenities available. This time we stayed in the room with the amazing bath. Sadly we didn’t have chance to use it as only stayed for one night. The breakfast is wonderful and certainly set us up for the day. The owners and staff are all very friendly. We look forward to our next visit.

Room was very comfy albeit needed an extra heater which we had within minutes if requesting one. Very friendly and efficient service and a great cooked breakfast.

Small but well kept guest house with excellent food

I stayed at the Tavern for one night Monday 6/10/25 prior to attending a funeral. I had read previous reviews criticising road noise. Whilst it was heard,I didn’t find it an issue at all. Had a good nights sleep in a comfy bed. Superb bathroom- i loved the large soaker tub- hard to find a room with bath these days. Staff were very friendly and food was hot and tasty with portions on the large side! Would definitely stay here again.

Good food and room

Accommodation amazing, bed a bit too soft for me but that’s a personal preference, had only room with roll top bath and walk in shower, fabulous. Had evening meal and breakfast and the food was beautiful, will deffo return 5star

The whole experience was great! Susie, Addy and all their staff made us feel very welcome. The food was great, we had a family meal here on one of the nights. The breakfast was huge and kept us going all day! Will definitely return when we’re next up visiting family.

Our stay was extremely pleasant. The road noise was really loud when the windows were open, which they had to be as the room was very warm.The breakfast was delicious. Susanna was an excellent host and worked very hard and was always pleasant and helpful.

I would stay here for business again. Our room appeared to be freshly decorated and the bathroom with shower kitted out to a high standard. We ate in their restaurant and the food was very yummy- do try the pie and steak both seriously good. They only start serving breakfast at 9am which was too late for us so they actually came in early for us and we had a great full English breakfast beautifully cooked bacon and sausages excellent. The Hungarian lady who we checked in with, saw at dinner and breakfast what a hard working and polite person.

We arrived 4-pm 13/8/25 for our 1 night stay on route to a funeral the following day, we got a drink, then hubby went to get another and the barman had walked out so no more drinks till another member of staff arrived over an hour later,

Lovely staff, lovely ales lovely food and a really comfortable stay. Gorgeous cooked breakfast!

Overnight Stay travelling North from Cornwall. Lovely sized room and Bathroom extremely well fitted out.

Really helpful staff.

Traffic noise from road outside room was annoying. Staff were excellent as was food & breakfast.

Room large and comfortable, staff couldn't do enough. Our dog was made to feel very welcome.

Check in was crazy, we’d booked twin room. But got a king size bed, then had to show proof of what I’d booked. Explained it was 2 friends sharing & not a couple & we’d like another duvet so we can make it into a twin, the duvet didn’t come. There was no toilet rolls in the bathroom, pubic hairs all around the toilet & hairs on the sink, no bathroom bin, nor toilet roll holder. The bed was lumpy & very uncomfortable & my friend has woken up with a really bad back ache today. The pub is adjacent to a 60mph limit road which is extremely dangerous, and we unfortunately were witnesses to a head on collision right outside the premises, so be careful around the area with the other traffic.

Lovely room Staff were great realy Friendly. Going back New years day. Food was lovely as was the Atmosphere.only downside would be the room was freezing.

Staying to be close when visiting family. Staff very friendly and welcoming. Very impressed by their safety consciousness. 1st hotel that has ever shown us the fire escape route. Which all should do really. Room was great, clean comfotable and modernly decorated.

We were warmly greeted by the manager, she was knowledgeable about beer choices and wine. Locals were friendly in the bar. We stayed for the 2nd time in room 4. Special room with stand alone bath in the bathroom which is separate to the bedroom with a sliding door. Lots of cobwebs in the bathroom Dinner was lovely Breakfast was very good with Gluten free bread on request. Would recommend and will definitely stay again
