Delightful visit to The George and Dragon! Friendly and obliging staff, great pub, room and breakfast. Rooms renovated to a high standard and beautifully furnished. Loved the windows which could be opened to cool the room and bonus bath to relax in. Friendly bar staff when we had a drink in the pub before bed and lovely lady served us at breakfast. Really impressed and highly recommend a stay. 10/10

An excellent journey stopover

Would definitely recommend and stay again. Very comfortable bed with crisp white bedding. Spotlessly clean room and bathroom. Evening meal was excellent and the breakfast was very good. Meals were beautifully presented and very tasty! Perfect stop over on our way back to Poole in Dorset after doing the NC500. Dogs get their own bowl, blanket and treats! (There is a £20 per night charge for a dog)

Great stayed and friendly staffs.

lovely pub owned by the Lowther Estate. Stayed 3 nights while attending a wedding at Askham hall 6 minutes drive away. Food was well above usual pub food, and sourced from the Estate. Recently refubished. Walls a little thin and you could hear voices from room next door. Also no lift and original worn stone stairs to bedrooms, so may not be suitable for those with mobility issues. Staff helpful. by the second day when they realised I liked fresh milk for my tea in the bedroom, they put a fresh milk jug in daily without requesting it. would definitely stay here again.

A really lovely hotel with helpful friendly staff. The breakfast was one of the best I've ever had, and our evening meal in the restaurant was excellent.

It’s the perfect stay to stop just off the M6 when driving from Scotland to England. It’s a beautifully decorated pub, with lovely staff and excellent breakfast and dinner. This time our ferry was cancelled from Mull and so we had to change the booking at the last moment. They were understanding and there was no problem rolling over the booking until we could get off the island. We will be forever loyal to this wonderful stop just south of Penrith.

Great atmosphere and service. We stayed in one of their newly refurbished rooms and it was really nice! Would definitely come back and recommend.

Lovely staff, very good accommodation & food

Hotel was lovely and cosy, staff were friendly and helpful. Bar and restaurant were tastefully furnished and the food and drinks were delicious. An excellent place to stay and enjoy the beautiful surroundings.

Comfortable room. Quiet. Great breakfast

A very warm welcome on arrival it had a friendly feel about it. Our room was spotless with mixture of modern and old, plenty of refreshment choices also fabulous shower gel and shampoo provided. Breakfast was included and didn’t disappoint well worth adding when booking. Great location for the nature of our visit and as it is pet friendly we will be bringing our dog next time

Very friendly staff, beautifully clean room and excellent food.

We stopped for a night during a long drive home with a rescue dog we had picked up just hours before. The staff were immediately welcoming; kind and friendly. The hotel itself lovely, the accommodation cozy and very comfortable, and the food and service excellent. I would definitely stay again and would whole heartedly recommend to others. Thank you.

Excellent food, at a price but couldn't be faulted . Rooms quite small but comfy and very clean and tidy except for even after the heating was looked at not the warmest. TV small.
