Bar shut restaurant shut, noisy as not double glazed Bed was comfortable and clean

No staff, when back from a show you expect staff to be there, none just a number to contact if you need or in difficulties, people outside in porch wat smoking drugs, drinking and illisit activities, no sleep, and not felt safe, would not return there, been there before long time ago and a massive difference to what it is now

Its a very basic hotel and although the room was a decent size and the bed was comfortable the shower was way too small for doing anything i couldn't move. also even though i had read reviews about breakfast being available this was not the case unfortunately which was disappointing the location is excellent and its only a five minute walk to the shops and restaurants around the area, but it does need some serious attention to appearance

Clean , comfortable and close to everytjing . Reasonable rates

We couldn’t sleep all night as the mattress springs were digging into us. Really bad. The room and toilet were very old and tacky

Staff were friendly, and location is great. The dated in the rooms, fixtures (door handles and taps). Shower pressure very low. But overall for a few days it is still a good place to stay. I would happily go back in the future.

Poorly staffed had to eait ages to get a drinkand felt very uncomfortable was a bit like a ghost ship

Overall, my stay at the hotel was pleasant and welcoming experience. The staff were warm and attentive, and the service offered solid value for money. That said, the balcony could have benefited from more thorough cleaning, and the absence of in-room WiFi was a notable drawback—especially since access was limited to the lobby. With a few improvements in cleanliness and connectivity, the hotel has the potential to offer an even more comfortable and enjoyable stay.

House keeping was very poor, was there 6 days, no cleaning or fresh towels or bedding, the bedding had stains on it, very poor 😢

I asked for room upstairss which I was given however wanted quiet room. Was bang next to lift people going up and down the corridor door banging straight to my wall. Bathroom pressure of water well if u can call it pressure non existent just dripping. Hair in bath . Rust mould , chipped stains in ceiling, balcony rusty dirty was scared will snap and fall… view terrible . Only positive thing was reception staff very helpful

Couldnt fault the staff or cleanliness. I can only comment on the room i stayed in which i would say was very tired, i could feel the springs in my matress and furnishings were pretty worn like laminate missing on wardrobes and drawers and expanding foam sticking out everywhere on outside of window. Oh and you can only connect to the wi-fi in the reception area which was a slight inconvenience for me however despite this i probably would stay again.

The shower didn’t work properly the room was always hot and nobody at the reception when we arrived we had to wait at least 20 minutes before someone turned up I would not recommend this hotel to anyone not happy

Stayed at this hotel a few times great for an overnight stay right on the front near the pier clean room comfortable bed really friendly and helpful staff

We needed to stay overnight in Eastbourne for a funeral, and the Afton Hotel was ideal. Very reasonable price, friendly staff. We were a bit worried that it would be noisy, as there was some entertainment going on downstairs, but that stopped at 11pm and it was nice and quiet after that, and got a good night's rest. The main issue was parking. We checked in at 3pm and got a space right outside, but when we returned later in the evening we had to park a few streets away. When we stayed, there was a LOT of building work going on in the area. I'm sure when it's finished the area will look really nice - and probably the parking situation will improve. Definitely recommend getting the parking permit from reception, and I can also recommend paying the extra for the breakfast. They do a nice full English. Nice to stay in a proper old-fashioned seaside hotel, the building is showing it's age a bit, but the staff are really friendly and helpful.

For a fairly budget hotel I cannot fault my stay. Room cleaned daily and kept clean to good standard. Shower head being very small with little water flow my only low rating. Hotel is not modernised but old wardrobes in room adds to charm. I would definitely stay again when down for stay with work
