The hotel is not bad, location is great, but Very bad service at reception. They try to over charge you on things and take a long time both check in and check out. Tried to make a complaint to the front desk manager and he was not willing to even listen .

Wonderful! They were able to get us into a room upon check in, and we did arrive early. So that was a great way to start! Beautiful hotel! Dinner on the rooftop terrace was delicious, and the view was amazing! I left my lil pouch up there, but didn't realize until the morning. When I went to the front desk to check out, before I even asked about it, she was coming out with my pouch! Excellent staff through and through! Can't wait to go back!

I have been staying at Hotel 1898 for over 15 years and even chose it for my honeymoon, so it genuinely saddens me to write this review. It has always been my first choice whenever I visit Barcelona. Unfortunately, over my last two stays I have been checked in by the same member of staff, who on both occasions came across as unfriendly and rude. First impressions matter, and as a returning guest I certainly didn't feel welcomed. I also feel that the level of service has gradually declined over the years. When I first started staying here, breakfast was served on the rooftop terrace, which was a wonderful experience. Although that changed, I continued returning because I enjoy the hotel and always book a terrace room. However, I was disappointed to find that room service breakfast order cards are no longer provided, so we chose not to have breakfast at the hotel. It's also noticeable that many other Barcelona hotels I stay at, such as H10, Borneta, Duquesa and The Serras, offer guests a small complimentary welcome drink or similar gesture. It may seem like a small thing, but it makes guests feel appreciated and valued. Hotel 1898 is still a beautiful property in a fantastic location, but for the first time in over 15 years I'm questioning whether it will remain my first choice. Loyal guests have plenty of options in Barcelona, and I hope the management will focus on restoring the level of hospitality that made this hotel so special in the first place.

Central location

Beautiful place, the staff super friendly, we were able to get early check in, great location. Food and the rooftop are also great, you have to try the spa. Definitely recommend this place .

Perfektes Hotel! Lage tip top. Zimmer renoviert, Betten super. Ausblick vom Balkon super. Dachterrasse ein Traum mit Live Musik und einem Top Restaurant. Idealer Ausgangspunkt für Sightseeing Trips. Aktuell leider riesige Baustelle in der LaRambla, geplant bis Frühling 2027. Frühstück ist phantastisch. Wir kommen wieder.

Our room was large and the terrace was a great surprise as it was large with very comfortable amenities. The roof top bar had excellent views and great service. Centrally located

Very elegant hotel in the best possible location of Barcelona! The rooftop pool and area are fantastic and the spa in the basement invite for a lovely break after touring the city. Breakfast was also very nice and the beds a dream! We will for sure be back!

After getting off a Celebrity cruise, it was lovely to stay at a full service hotel: bellman, housekeeping and spa. We thoroughly enjoyed being pampered. The rooms are decadent, and the beds are the most comfortable hotel beds I’ve ever slept in! The a/c works well (another heat wave) and the hotel is centrally located. Easy check-in and out. They even accommodated us while we waited for our flight.

We loved staying at this hotel ! The location was at a walking distance from everything . Staff , breakfast , amenities , spacious rooms . They have a beautiful rooftop with live music and some activities . Spa , sauna , indoor pool . We will come again .

Be sure to get a room on a high floor. The metro runs underneath and my room on 4th floor would shake and I could hear it. Could also hear neighbors, not best soundproofing. Staff were not the most helpful and breakfast buffet at 10/1030am would frequently be running out of food/bowls/etc

This is a beautiful hotel min an historic building that honors its past. Everything about it is beautiful. Convenient location and walkable to most everything. We loved the gym, spa and rooftop pool. Highly recommend.

Beatiful room, quick check in and check out. Dislikes were it was very noisy in the hallways when staff were cleaning other rooms or anyone walked by talking

Great location, beautiful rooms with high ceilings and traditional decor. Wonderful rooftop area with lovely views and pool, much needed in Summer. Will be back!
