The hotel is not bad, location is great, but Very bad service at reception. They try to over charge you on things and take a long time both check in and check out. Tried to make a complaint to the front desk manager and he was not willing to even listen .

The location is great, right in the center of Larambla which has many stors and restaurants. The hotel decore is very nice, and has an overall good vibe. The room was clean, in good condition and spacious. They also have a high class spa.The staff was nice and accommodating and the breafast buffet was rich and tasty.

Amazing location, within walking distance of nearly everything. We rode Lime bikes to the beach... so easy with bike lanes everywhere. The room was gorgeous and spacious. Live music both outside and in the lobby was an unexpected joy. The rooftop area was deserted in early December but still lovely place to rest from jetlag while still soaking up some sun and ambiance. The pool was warm and relaxing. Definitley recommend for an off-season visit, for affordability lack of crowds and relaxed ambiance.

Great overall ambiance throughout the hotel. The room was large, clean and very comfortable. The included spa experience was a real bonus. The breakfast offering was consistently high quality. The staff was polite and professional without exception.

Clean and great staff

This is a lovely hotel with great common spaces, live music and snacks! There is a wonderful spa as well - just make a reservation - it fills up and they limit capacity. Our room was comfortable, well appointed and the complimentary bottle of water each day was useful.

I can’t say that I had a good night’s sleep at Hotel 1898. The check-in experience was disappointing. It was very slow, and the check-in assistant seemed to be in a bad mood—more like an immigration officer than hotel reception staff. I was charged a €150 deposit, and when I asked why, I was told it was due to some American tourists overstaying their free spa time and not reporting it to the hotel. To avoid financial loss, the hotel decided to charge every guest a deposit at check-in. I felt this was unfair, as it was not my fault, yet I was still required to pay the deposit. Although the money will be returned at check-out, I was unhappy about being charged in the first place. The hotel is in an excellent location and looks beautiful, but the building feels old. The windows do not appear to be double-glazed, and the city centre of Barcelona is extremely noisy throughout the night. I could hear everything from outside, which made it impossible to sleep properly. I had to wear my AirPods all night to block out the noise just to get some sleep. Overall, it was not a pleasant experience. The least enjoyable part was the slow and unpleasant check-in, and based on my stay, I would not recommend this hotel.
