This was the worst experience I have ever had with an Expedia property. The hotel was ranked a 4 star, and is at best a 2 start. It was filthy, had no elevator or air conditioning. The rooms were dismal and there was no way to raise the window to let in air to address the stifling heat. But mostly it was dirty and worn. The carpet and curtains were disgusting. We wanted to leave our luggage the next day because we had a train at 5pm, but we were told the hotel does not accommodate tourists with luggage and told us to use an APP to find a place to store our luggage. It was so bad, I decided it was best to leave. We quickly found another hotel and checked out of the Judges Court soon after checking in. I will ask for a refund. It was just awful. The woman at the desk was so apologetic...it was not her fault, but don't waste money on this overpriced hell hole.

Centrally located. Close to the train station which is helpful as there are traffic restrictions on Coney Street. Pack an umbrella in case it rains.

No parking but multi story nearby, very clen room and staff are lovely. Very central , ideal.

Clean room, nice reception team. Right in the middle of all the shops and city center. Use Google Maps for walking directions to find the hotel. Close to the train station but the entrance is discreet tucked away.

The staff were very friendly and helpful but overall the hotel felt cramped and a little tired. There is no dining room, so breakfast offering is a grab and go bag but there are plenty of nice breakfast options in the area. The room was small and downstairs with a small window into a rear service yard, not the 4 star expected. The hotel entrance next to a phone shop was also not what we expected from the photos. Although accept that this is what you get from a central location.

Staff very friendly and helpful. Location excellent for city centre bars and shops and only 10-12 min walk from the train station. Spacious room, and bathroom was very clean.

Friendly staff, quiet location with shops and points of interest all within walking distance

I rarely leave negative reviews, but this was a genuinely disappointing experience. I paid £480 for two nights and ended up leaving after the first. From the moment I arrived at Judges Court, the welcome from the receptionist was poor. The attitude felt cold and unwelcoming, which set the tone for the stay. To be fair, the staff member on duty the following morning was much more pleasant, but by then the damage was done. The room itself was a major issue. It was located right next to reception, meaning I could hear constant noise from guests coming and going. I was woken up very early in the morning, which made it impossible to rest properly. Cleanliness was also unacceptable. I found toilet paper left unflushed in the toilet on arrival, something I have never experienced in all my travels. For a hotel positioning itself as high-end, this is simply not acceptable. Facilities are extremely limited, with no food options available on site. The overall condition of the room also fell short, with cabinets visibly worn and falling apart. This is marketed as a 5-star experience, but in reality it felt closer to a 2-star standard at best. For the price paid, this was nowhere near the level expected. I would not return.

Unique rooms. We had a lovely stay. Be aware there are lots of stairs and narrow staircase,which we didn't mind. Also there was no fridge in the room. Again not the end of the world but I know some people need a fridge for medicine etc We thought we had ordered breakfast but hadn't so I can't comment on the breakfast. Would I stay again. Yes.

Altogether, a very disappointing stay from the unprofessional staff (one out of the four I encountered was nice) to a tired, creepy property. The front of the property looks nice in the photo here, but the dirty courtyard includes rat traps and rubbish.

Central location in pedestrian shopping area

The hotel was a fun experience and the rooms were beautifully decorated. Unfortunately I did not sleep as the bed was quite hard. The walls were also very thin and as we were downstairs, I could hear every single movement from upstairs. It felt like they were in our room.

Due to misunderstanding with booking we did not get breakfast. I assumed that this was included. When I queried this with the night staff I found the lady to be robotic in her answers and not coming up with a solution. No mention as to whether I could get this included, told to speak to the day staff who advised that the breakfast inclusion only started the day after I made my booking on the 22/03. Hotel itself was clean, room was quaint.

Secure parking a little walk away. Situation excellent, tucked away amongst the shops. Comfy bed, quirky hotel with a lovely vibe

Great location. Although right in the centre very quiet .

nice room and bathroom, we saw 5 staff members of which3 were excellent whereas two bordered on rude.

Great location, really close to everything you'd want to see in old York. Very comfortable bed and a modern bathroom. My only quibble - and this is more my fault than that of the hotel - is that to get up to my room, on the top floor, I had to lug a giant suitcase up several flights of a winding, narrow stairway. (York was a stop on my way to work for a month - ergo the giant suitcase). No other amenities in the hotel, so if you want a bite to eat, you'll have to go out. Not a big deal, as there are countless establishments within a 10-minute walk. For comfort and location, I should give the place 4 stars. Just wish it had a "lift"

Lovely room and lovely staff - right in the centre of York

Not spotless, but overall good cleanliness. Bedding and shower were spotless. Few small bits on carpet.
