Loved the history, quirky character. Great shower. I would just suggest a small sign perpendicular to the entramce, as it is hard to spot and can be passed several times before spotting the passageway

It’s a lovely property but in need of maintenance. It is in the busy centre, but sits in the quietness of a courtyard. The staff are friendly and helpful. There is no restaurant. Breakfast is packed in a bag that you can take with you, so would forego if reduces price as plenty of really nice breakfast places in York, although not many seem to open before 8:30 or 9am.

Friendly staff, no air con but (loud) fans in the room. Toilet was dirty when we arrived (soiled basin) stairs up to the room were challenging in 32° Location great, no kitchen so just a room/bathroom

Positives - the room was large, hotel well located in the centre, good toiletries, staff very helpful and pleasant. Despite being a 4 star hotel it really doesn’t feel like one, much more like a 3 star. It is very worn and run down and poorly maintained with peeling paint and chunks missing out of walls. We also had a weirdly designed window that was in the eaves of the room and had mirrors in the sides and as soon as the sun came up it absolutely filled the room with light making it very difficult to sleep and I was up from 5am which impacted our trip. Picture attached was taken just after 5am so you can see how light it makes the room! I regularly stay in York and usually stay in rooms above pubs, most of which are £30-£50 a night cheaper and 3 stars and this didn’t feel any better than those overall and I don’t think it’s worth the extra money compared to those types of accommodation.

I recently stayed at Judges Court York for three nights and, unfortunately, it was a very disappointing experience. I completely understand that the hotel can’t control the heatwave we experienced, but the rooms were unbearably hot. The only cooling provided was a small fan, which made very little difference, and it was extremely difficult to sleep. For the price of the hotel, I would expect better facilities, especially air conditioning or a more effective way of keeping guests comfortable. The biggest disappointment was the customer service. Most of the reception staff were rude, unwelcoming, and came across as uninterested in helping guests. A warm welcome goes a long way, especially when you’re paying premium prices, but sadly that was missing throughout most of our stay. The only positive interaction we had was with an older lady on reception, who was friendly and smiled when she let our friends into our room to surprise my sister for her 30th birthday. She was the only member of staff who made us feel welcome. The rooms themselves are also very dated and could do with significant refurbishment. Overall, I don’t feel the hotel offers value for money. I had booked this trip as a special treat for my sister’s 30th birthday, and she was very disappointed with the hotel. It’s a shame because the location is great, but the customer service, outdated rooms, and lack of adequate cooling really let the experience down. I hope the hotel invests in improving both its facilitie

This was the worst experience I have ever had with an Expedia property. The hotel was ranked a 4 star, and is at best a 2 start. It was filthy, had no elevator or air conditioning. The rooms were dismal and there was no way to raise the window to let in air to address the stifling heat. But mostly it was dirty and worn. The carpet and curtains were disgusting. We wanted to leave our luggage the next day because we had a train at 5pm, but we were told the hotel does not accommodate tourists with luggage and told us to use an APP to find a place to store our luggage. It was so bad, I decided it was best to leave. We quickly found another hotel and checked out of the Judges Court soon after checking in. I will ask for a refund. It was just awful. The woman at the desk was so apologetic...it was not her fault, but don't waste money on this overpriced hell hole.

Clean room, nice reception team. Right in the middle of all the shops and city center. Use Google Maps for walking directions to find the hotel. Close to the train station but the entrance is discreet tucked away.

The staff were very friendly and helpful but overall the hotel felt cramped and a little tired. There is no dining room, so breakfast offering is a grab and go bag but there are plenty of nice breakfast options in the area. The room was small and downstairs with a small window into a rear service yard, not the 4 star expected. The hotel entrance next to a phone shop was also not what we expected from the photos. Although accept that this is what you get from a central location.

I rarely leave negative reviews, but this was a genuinely disappointing experience. I paid £480 for two nights and ended up leaving after the first. From the moment I arrived at Judges Court, the welcome from the receptionist was poor. The attitude felt cold and unwelcoming, which set the tone for the stay. To be fair, the staff member on duty the following morning was much more pleasant, but by then the damage was done. The room itself was a major issue. It was located right next to reception, meaning I could hear constant noise from guests coming and going. I was woken up very early in the morning, which made it impossible to rest properly. Cleanliness was also unacceptable. I found toilet paper left unflushed in the toilet on arrival, something I have never experienced in all my travels. For a hotel positioning itself as high-end, this is simply not acceptable. Facilities are extremely limited, with no food options available on site. The overall condition of the room also fell short, with cabinets visibly worn and falling apart. This is marketed as a 5-star experience, but in reality it felt closer to a 2-star standard at best. For the price paid, this was nowhere near the level expected. I would not return.

Unique rooms. We had a lovely stay. Be aware there are lots of stairs and narrow staircase,which we didn't mind. Also there was no fridge in the room. Again not the end of the world but I know some people need a fridge for medicine etc We thought we had ordered breakfast but hadn't so I can't comment on the breakfast. Would I stay again. Yes.

Altogether, a very disappointing stay from the unprofessional staff (one out of the four I encountered was nice) to a tired, creepy property. The front of the property looks nice in the photo here, but the dirty courtyard includes rat traps and rubbish.
