Room was cold, and smelt damp. Really quite run down

As a tourguide I travel the whole world and I basically live in hotels. So I know my fair share of hotels, rooms and lobby's. But the Mercure in Brighton is truly a hidden gem! Whát a great hotel! Go here! You won't be disappointed. Fair price, great rooms, wonderful staff and all very kind! The managers are visible and always helpful. From Betsy in the restaurant to the staff in the bar, reception or restaurant. Big big compliments! It truly feels like entering a movie set or tv serie. You are directly part of this Brighton family. We had a Christmas look, but you keep taking pictures! Little details, all very clean and the room was great. We had seasight, but the room has all you need! Great bed, perfect shower, ammenities, bottle of free water with and without gas and all you could think of. I cannot find any negative about this hotel! The breakfast was superb for every taste. If there is space you can park in the back of the hotel for 18 pounds (if you are a new member of Accor, otherwise it is 28 pounds per day. Nearby are more options. If you order a drink in the bar? Do tell them not to poor to the rim. You pay the max and it is too much. They should ask for that, especially if you already had one!? And he poored the next automatically to the higher volume/price. Otherwise very nice all over. Location couldn't be better. Compliments to all!

Clean comfy room and super friendly staff. Also received a free welcome drink. Lovely reception and bar area. However, corridors to the “mews” bedrooms are quite scruffy and dirty.

Staff very courteous. However...told at check in that I had been 'upgraded' from single to a double. The double was up 3 flights of stairs and was the last room at the hotel - room 356. The cold tap in the sink was no more than a dribble and the hair dryer set off the smoke alarm in 3 minutes. My main objection is this - I booked months ago. A single male colleague was 'upgraded' to a double on first floor despite booking after me. Why do hotels always penalize solo female customers giving them the worst, most difficult to access rooms?? It's a regular experience for me but I am still disappointed that the Mercure was no different from all the other hotels who seem to treat solo female customers like a lower class of customer. Very sad.

It was ok, reception looked stunning - great Christmas decks - but corridors to room were a bit worn down. Room ok but dripping sound on to flat roof outside window from heavy rain was really loud, even with window fully closed. One of those things due to the weather! Also a loud intermittent noise that I couldn’t work out if it was from the ‘heating unit’ or outside the room. So not the most restful night but not bad either!!

Lovely hotel and atmosphere. Room was spotlessly clean and comfortable. Check in was easy with great service. Check out was just as good and easy. Will definitely return.

Following a terrible night in another hotel in Brighton , I booked into the Mercure at the last minute for two nights. The reception staff were friendly and welcoming from the start. The lobby feels warm and luxurious and smells lovely. When I got to my room, I realised that outside the window there was a large extractor fan making a noise that I knew would keep me awake through the night so I returned to reception and explained this. They quickly and courteously moved my room with no fuss’s. This stay was a complete contrast for the previous hotel recommended

Lovely position on the seafront. Very windy weather and old sash windows but drafty but otherwise lovely old building with character.

Room had a funny smell and looked like a prison inside

Despite checking repeatedly that the Hotel was able to provide a Wheelchair accessible room, I was forced to leave my wheelchair in the hall which caused a great deal of pain. Staff promised that I could have free food and drink delivered to my room to make up for the fact I was unable to use the facilities. Although I ordered food, nothing arrived. I had to order a pizza from outside. I was also accused of damaging the lift by maintenance, they told me I had held the door open when I had not touched it. A member of staff had opened it. I will be submitting a longer report when my Support Worker is able to assist me with this.

We were given a sea view upgrade into an amazing room. The staff were all so friendly and lovely. Very nice breakfast with sea views. Would stay again.
