very connivance and a lot of restaurant nearby

The hotel was a fantastic location and our room overlooked the canal. However, the room was very small and we had to take an elevator and numerous stairs with our luggage to get to the room.

Just a little noisy otherwise perfect

A very nice location in downtown Amsterdam near many of the sights. The staff was very welcoming and friendly.

Loved the room with four twins. It was a perfect respite for my trip with my two kids. It was also so quiet!

Not quite last minute but booking during peak season. Didn’t have a ton of choices traveling with a party of three adults. Picked two double rooms at the Hotel Van Gelder. Rooms were clean and had good amenities. The staff was outstanding. The hotel is in the CBD so it’s right in the heart of the city. No lift so pack light. It’s not like a big corporate chain hotel but that was ok with me. I’d highly recommend if you can get by with no lift

Clean room small basic and up very steep narrow stairs 3d floor no lift. Functional and good location

This place has very narrow steep steps to its rooms. If you have mobility issues whatsoever. This is not the place for you. Other than that the Staff were bright and cheery. The rooms are what they are in the description.. I got a single room and it was literally the size of a prison cell. The bed was really stiff as well. The bathroom was very nice.

Negativo, predio sem elevador. Bem no centro e perto de trem e metro. Quarto limpo. Minha mulher diz para disponibilizar shampoo e condicionador, que não oferecem para banho. Não existe shampoo e sabonete liquido de corpo num so produto. Precisam melhorar secador de cabelos, antigo e fraco. Escadas muito perigosa. Nao tragam malas.

Hotel Van Gelder is in a perfect spot for visiting Amsterdam - right near Central Station and about a 20 minute walk to all the museums/markets. But, keep in mind the building is very old and there is NO ELEVATOR. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The rooms are small but updated and clean. If you have any difficulty managing quite a few stairs, this is not the hotel for you.

The room is clean but it’s a bed and a bathroom. Nothing spectacular

Very pleasant and helpful staff. Hotel close to many spots we wanted to see. Long flight of stairs to get your bag up and down at check in-out time. Staff offered to help.

Staff was very kind and welcoming. The temperature in the room was comfortable. However, we didn’t have hot water for one night. We also found a container of a certain substance inside the closet which smelled extremely pungent and also means that they did not clean the room well beforehand. It was also difficult to carry our luggage up the steep stairs and there was a lot of noise coming from outside the window at night. The convenience of the location however was good for the price we paid.
