We selected Hotel VIC because of the proximity to Leiden Centraal. We traveled by train 8 of the 11 days we were in the Netherlands, so having the station so close was a big bonus. The room was all that we needed it to be and the bed was wonderful!
The property was in a very good location. The decor seemed a little on the romantic/sexual side of things, but it was very accommodating. The whole building was very clean and the staff was extremely nice. We arrived late and the door was locked and when we buzzed, we had someone come around and get us to get around. The staff was very nice and took us back over to the self check-in kiosks and it went very smoothly after that. We did not have any issues at all the entire stay.
This hotel was located very conveniently across from the train station. The self check-in system didn't work for us (it asked for a code that wasn't provided when our booking was confirmed online), so we had to call someone to help us. But, when there is staff in the lobby, they are always friendly and helpful.
Our room was great--spacious, comfortable bed, nice view. Interestingly, the outside of the building is quite soundproof from the noise of the city, but the interior walls are not--we were able to hear sneezing, snoring, and the alarm in the morning of the people in rooms next to us. It was convenient having a mini fridge in the room, and the shower was really nice. Would stay here again, but will bring earplugs next time in case of noisy neighbors!
