We stayed at Le Méridien for three nights to celebrate my partner’s 40th birthday, having booked a superior city-view room five months in advance. As it was a special occasion, the hotel kindly gave us what they described as the best room in the category we had reserved, but unfortunately we found it rather disappointing.
Although the room was likely the advertised 30 square metres, a large portion of the space was taken up by an oversized bathroom, which made the bedroom area feel much smaller than expected. The city view was pleasant enough (through windows in need of cleaning), but nowhere near as impressive as the photos suggested. The furnishings and overall finish also felt somewhat cheap and below the standard you would normally expect from a five-star hotel—something we had previously experienced at a Marriott Convoy in New York City.
The exterior of the hotel suggests traditional architecture, but our room was in a modern part in the back with low ceilings, contrary to what we expected based on the photos of the hotel.
The hotel also offered complimentary drinks on days when housekeeping was declined. We chose to make use of this, only to discover that the offer applied to a very limited drinks menu, meaning we still had to pay for what we ordered.
That said, the location is excellent, and the staff were warm, friendly, and very helpful throughout our stay. Overall, however, we felt the experience did not justify a return visit.

My check-in was not great since for some reason I had a very small room with a queen bed and in the second floor where we had to go up about ten steps...I had stayed in a larger (although not great room) a week earlier and had even requested a paid upgrade for the last few days of my trip.

Really friendly helpful staff. Large clean quiet room. Enjoyed the buffet breakfast. Had coffee & cake in the coffee bar & enjoyed two really great meals in the bar area which offered comfortable seating, along with wonderful ambiance & great service. The hotel is close to, but set back from, main tourist area, around a 15 min walk. Subway station a 4 min walk for direct access & a 20min ride to Schönbrunn Palace.

Convenient location, but lacking in cleanliness and service.
Le Méridien is close to major museums and Karlsplatz station, making it very convenient for getting around.
However, the hotel feels outdated, with dim hallways and aging infrastructure. Cleanliness was inconsistent. I was given a bathrobe with stains on it and had to ask for a replacement.
The room also had issues with old wiring that made clicking noises, which I got around by avoiding certain light switches.
The shower pipes also made a constant loud, almost drilling sound. When I asked staff for help, they not only dismissed the noise levels by saying it wasn't that bad, but told me there was nothing they could do until the next morning. I eventually fixed it myself by adjusting the shower knobs, but I would have expected the housekeeping staff to know that and be more helpful.
The hotel also seemed overbooked and a bit noisy at times. Overall, a convenient location but not up to expectations for comfort or service.
