What a wonderful welcome from Hannah and the team. Brilliant stay and wonderful breakfast. They are currently carrying out a refurbishment (hence 4 rather than 5 stars for the actual hotel). Didn't impact, other than the restaurant being closed but wow from what they've done so far it's going to be stunning! Great location too

The hotel has recently been refurbished but still has the ‘old’ side which you can select the room for stay if you are interested in this historic experience. Those rooms will be available for cheaper prices as well. I chose to stay at the ‘newer’ side for my accommodation this time as they are usually more comfortable for a good night sleep. I was correct and the room looks amazing and spacious too! What a wonderful refurbishment with great designs. Staff were also very helpful and friendly with the hospitality service. Their breakfast or dining area seems lovely although I took it outside instead as there’s so much to do and eat outside the hotel as well. I would loved to stay here once again if I come round for a visit once again.

We were warned that the hotel was being refurbished . The main reception was already completed and looked lovely. The staff were very friendly and helpful. On the second morning of our stay they had a coach load of people arrive and were short of staff for breakfast. Consequently quite a lot of the buffet was unavailable but they did apologise and it was hardly their fault if staff were off sick. Overall we had a good time.

Lovely building great reception very stylish. The staff were so welcoming and accommodating genuinely helpful. Room was nice and spacious a really comfortable bed.
Breakfast had a good variety and the service was excellent very professional and friendly.

Reception staff were very friendly and informative regarding the local area.
However the room was unbearably hot.
The heating was on full and could not be turned down which the night manager was aware of prior to our stay.
He tried to turn it down with pliers but was unsuccessful so we had no sleep as an alternative room was unavailable.
This was a huge disappointment as it was a birthday and anniversary weekend.
An alternative room was found the next day.
We were given a small refund of 15% which didn’t reflect our spoilt stay.

The room and bathroom were clean and attractive. The rugs are looking rather tired and worn. Lots of thick large towels provided. But not enough surfaces/hooks in the bathroom for toiletries, etc. Staff was extremely polite and helpful. Breakfast was very good with a decent variety of hot and cold options. You could also order off the breakfast menu.

When we checked in the Climate Control was not working correctly and the staff moved us to a new room. The problem was that the room had no climate control either and it was absolutely freezing in the room. The hotel staff was nice and admitted they were having problems with climate control system and said it would be fixed on Monday which is was not. The grout around the tile in the bathroom was missing and the shower hose separated from the shower head. The hotel did repair the shower on the Monday, however, Monday, it happened again. The hotel was a nice property but just need a little extra TLC.

The overall property is in need of care. It is a very interesting, almost grand building but it needs refurbishing and better maintenance.
The staff was welcoming and tried to be helpful (see below)
We had reserved a room with air conditioning. It did not work. We were told that the system would be replaced by the summer! We asked for a fan, we were given a small broken clip fan, we made it work somehow.
The food at the temporary restaurant was limited in choice and quality because of ongoing work at the main restaurant. We had been told about the work through an email message from the property after we had reserved.
There is a bar but little knowledge as to how to make even basic cocktails.
The breakfast buffet was good with a good choice of food, the coffee machine needed to be thoroughly repaired or changed, it did not percolate efficiently for americanos or expressos.

The floor above creaked terribly. I was on the second floor. Very noisy from about 11pm to midnight and again for half an jour in the morning.
