芬沙爾老城巴塞羅飯店

We had a great stay! The hotel was clean, the breakfast was great and the rooftop pool was an additional plus to just wind down and take a dip after walking around and site seeing all day. The hotel was in a very convenient location. Highly recommend this hotel if you’re staying in Funchal!

Séjour du 25/8-1/9 Bien que l’hôtel soit un 5*, malheureusement il en vaut 4* Les raisons étant les prestations de service -Pas de personnel à l’arrivée comme au départ pour déposer/récupérer les valises en chambre -normalement un 5* sert les boissons au petit déjeuner, ici self service -personnel très vite dépassé lors du service quand trop de monde Nous avions pris une demi pension. A l’arrivée ils ne savaient pas comment gérer le menu à table. Premier jour, nous avions droit à une entrée/plat/dessert de la carte du restaurant Le deuxième jour nous avions plus que droit à une entrée/plat. Le troisième jour ils sont venus avec une feuille où nous avions droit à une entrée/plat/dessert. Malheureusement le menu ne change jamais Si vous recherchez les services d’un 5* ce n’est pas cet hôtel à choisir

Clean and convenient location

Everything was great

We stayed only for 1 night but really great location to walk around Funchal. Rooms are large for Europe and quite comfortable. Minifridge and welcome chocolates quite nice. The only thing I would note is that there are very few chairs in the rooftop bar/pool area so almost impossible to find a spot. Breakfast is delicious and plentiful. Would stay here again for sure.

Partiamo dai punti positivi: Posizione strategica, direi la migliore in FUNCHAL. In pieno centro con locali ovunque. La struttura è bella e la camera era silenziosissima e confortevole. Il letto comodissimo. Punti negativi: frigobar con pochissima scelta, temperatura ambiente, per cui le bibite erano calde. Inoltre non lo rifornivano se consumavi. Biancheria del letto macchiata, asciugamani bucati e per 2 volte siamo rientrati alle 15.00 e la camera non era fatta. Per essere un 5 stelle il servizio è decisamente scadente. Peccato perchè la posizione merita.

We loved our stay at Barceló. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. The pool was a great place to spend a couple hours in the afternoon. The only thing that could have made our stay better would be to have parking closer but the walk wasn’t bad at all. Great breakfast too!

Hard to find the entrance, friendly staff, close to everything.

Beautiful and central. Very attentive staff, great room service options. Roof top pool with amazing views is our favorite part of this hotel.

A lovely hotel, and we chose this for a 3 day stay because of previous experience with Barcelo hotels. However, the rooftop area, including the pool, was over-crowded. In our 3 days there we were never able to use the sun beds. There's a sign saying that reserving the beds was not allowed, but the guests do so anyway and the staff does not intervene. Guests would get there early and use their towels and belongings to hold the sun beds, so that half of them were often unoccupied but not available. The hotel really needs to implement some sort of booking or time slots for use of rooftop area. Next time in Funchal we'll look for another place to stay.

We loved our stay at the Barcelo. The room was very clean. The king sized bed was very comfortable as was the sofa bed which our daughter slept on. There was plenty of room in our room which was the standard basic room for 3 people. We loved the shower as well. The breakfasts were amazing and we really liked how the hotel opened up onto the main street where you could dine. The rooftop had amazing views and the decor and service was fantastic. A couple of times the water bottle wasn’t replenished (1 bottle is free per night) but when calling reception, they quickly gave us one. We would like to come back and recommend the Barcelo which is also located perfectly for visiting Funchel. The staff were very nice as well.

I really liked this hotel. Staff and amenities both excellent.

Zentral Und komfortabel

This was a great choice. The entire property was clean, close to everything, excellent breakfast and staff. It has a beautiful roof top pool and bar with an amazing view of the island. We highly recommend it.

Just perfect

What kills this hotel is WiFi barely works no doorman or help with luggage , minor but lame they don’t take Amex which is fine but you can reserve the room with Amex ???? Is this an international brand? Also when attempting to charge a drink at the pool on the Terrace I was told I can’t charge it to the room unless the front desk gives permission ? And the took a 200€ hold when I checked in …. Lame point 3 = Fail nice place but these are basic amenities at €350 a night ….

I stayed at Barcelo for 4 nights with my friend in a junior suite. The room/bathroom was nice and clean upon arrival and the room was a good size for two people. Breakfast was included and it was great. It included lots of fresh fruit, fresh made omelettes with all the standard accompaniments and a nice assortment of pastries as well fresh juices, coffee and tea. Staff was very friendly and polite upon check-in and throughout the stay. The location was great as it was walking distance from many of the restaurants we went to and very close to the main road along the waterfront. My only complaint is the housekeeping. Upon arrival there were no pool towels in our room. There were multiple days where there were dirty dishes left in the room and we were not given clean drinking glasses. Also there were multiple days where they did not top up the bottled water.
