You will enjoy Omuro cherry blossoms at Ninna-ji Temple, a World Heritage site.Omuro cherry blossoms, the late-blooming cherry tree in Kyoto City, is only about 2 meters high, so visitors can enjoy the sakura right in front of their eyes. The Omuro cherry blossoms with the five-story pagoda in the background is also a spectacular sight that has remained unchanged since the Edo period.(Usual viewing time: mid-April)Ryoan-ji TempleRyoan-ji Temple, a World Heritage site, is famous for the weeping cherry trees in its stone garden.In mid-April every year, the stone garden with white sand and 15 stones is filled with red weeping cherry blossoms that peek out from the earthen walls.(Usual viewing time: Late March to around April 10. Late-blooming satozakura in Sakura Garden around mid-April)Hirano ShrineAt Hirano Shrine, visitors can enjoy various varieties of cherry blossoms.As a symbol of the god who enhances life force, 400 cherry trees of about 60 varieties have been planted since the Heian period (794-1185) throughout the temple grounds.The rare yellow-green blossoms of the "Gioiko" and the light-red "Hirano Imose" are just a few of the varieties.(Usual viewing time: Late March to mid-April)Nijo CastleNijo Castle, a World Heritage site, was originally built by Tokugawa Ieyasu as a residence for shoguns traveling to Kyoto.there is famous cherry blossom viewing spot with 300 cherry trees of about 50 varieties in the castle.There are many varieties of satozakura as well as someiyoshino cherry trees.(Usual viewing time: Until mid-April)
