I was in a room in the annexe, just off the car park. Descent size doubke room with plenty of space to both relax and work, good wifi, powerful shower (over bath) and a very comfortable double bed. Room was clean tidy, staff friendly and breakfast was hot, cold, continental, English buffet set up with fresh produce being brought out regularly.

Nice old hotel, I like staying at these grand old hotels when possible! Very welcoming and friendly staff, car park was small but they found me the last spot when I arrived in the evening later than planned. I was hoping to use the electric car chargers but these were occupied by contract guests so arrive early or perhaps arrange with them beforehand if your electric car is nearly out of juice! Very handy feature to have, even better if I'd been able to use it!

Limited free onsite parking so payed for parking nearby. When we approached reception to check in member of staff busy on computer, so we had to wait until she had finished rather than greeting us and checking us in then returning to computer! The hotel was okay but maintenance needs to be improved our remote power button did not work so the only way to turn tv on and off was to use the power socket located behind the wall mounted tv, The windows in the en-suite were grubby and in need of painting. We only stayed one night and don’t know about the food.

We stayed in the new annex which had refurbished rooms. Room was a good size and in good condition. Only downside was the smell from the other guests smoking outside the entrance door - perhaps moving the smoking bin to another part of car park would remove this negativity. Staff were excellent, breakfast was excellent. Car park is limited in size and spaces are narrow so if you have a modern electric SUV it is extremely tight. There are two EV charge points but on our night we couldn't use them as other guests left their cars on charge overnight.

Outstanding visit to this friendly and welcoming hotel in the city centre of Carlisle. Food is fab, rooms sre hugely comfortable and immaculate, the swimming pool is a real hidden gem, but the star of the show is the great team of staff. Special mention to Maggie and Sue who always make my wee dog and me most welcome on our visits.

We’re already planning to return; very impressed with this gorgeous hotel. Beautiful room, amazing power shower. Even oat milk sachets in room. Catered for one of our party who is vegan. Very clean. Was a touch chilly in our room but nothing too troublesome, it was a very cold day. Breakfast was great, lots of veggie and vegan options. Well done.
