Lovely rooms which are spotless and good size towels The Bath House amenities fabulous smell and quality Had the special Steak and wine dinner which was great value in the pub itself with happy friendly staff at hand throughout Gigantic breakfast cooked with care including everything you could want Very much enjoyed walking around Giggleswick which is very pretty

Very convenient for Carlisle city centre - can’t beat the location. Swimming pool in the hotel which was quite a surprise. Excellent staff and breakfast. Place was really clean.

Absolutely fine for an overnight stay, but room very tired in terms of decor and carpet.

Hotel was clean but rooms are in major need of updating the carpet in our room was made up of 3 separate parts and mattress had springs coming out of it

I've stayed here before with family excellent! I stayed on 25/7/26 with my man and we loved every minute. The pool, the room, jacuzzi, breakfast , very helpfull staff , we preferred a solo swim so reception rang our room to say pool was free , so appreciated! Upgraded us to a club room very nice indeed , extras were good , crisps bottled water biscuits coffee tea etc iron and board hairdryer , fan,.breakfast was so well cooked ! We will be back ....Donna and Phil

Very central right at the end of the Cumbria Way walk and next to the cathedral. We were able to park at the rear arriving just before 3pm. We had a twin room which overlooked all the roofs of the additions done to this hotel over the years. There wasn’t air conditioning in the room and our main window wouldn’t stay open without the spare toilet roll supporting it! Pigeons are an issue here with deterrents fixed to the window sills but they disappeared late afternoon. Our room was quiet at night. Water pressure was good for the shower but the floor did get wet as the shower screen wasn’t adequate. We stayed for breakfast, buffet style, which could have been a bit hotter. Overall it’s a lovely looking hotel from the front but inside there were areas of worn carpet to our room (248) and it looked a little tired in places.

It was fine. Clean so no problems there, just very tired in our room and the swimming bit. Breakfast was good and staff helpful.

Beautiful hotel in the centre of Carlisle. Very friendly staff, and very dog friendly. The proximity to the Cathedral and Castle is great for site seeing. Breakfast was delicious too

The hotel has a lovely entrance, nice and grand and perfect location. Car park was small and hard to find but there is a pay and display very close by which isn't too expensive. The room was nice, basic, but comfortable and clean. We reported and issue with the toilet but unsure if anyone attended as it still drained slowly after flushing. Reception staff were really welcoming. The pool and changing areas are in need of a lot of work! The pool area is grubby, with green mildew on the walls and edges of the pool. The water appeared a little bit murky but this could be due to the pool itself being old. Definitely needs cleaning and probably upgrading.

In all my years (85 yrs old) of travelling I have never come across a more cheerful, caring set of staff than those five lovely folk serving brekky here in this hotel. A pleasure to watch them at work...thank you.

Typical old style hotel, damp smell all around, well placed for city centre, car park postcode could do with being added to their site as the hotel postcode won't get you to it, breakfast adequate,

Nice very central position. Car park a little hard to find but plenty of room really once you find it. Very nice hotel but a little dated and needs a little refurb. breakfast was excellent.

Great central location. Comfortable bed and linen immaculate. En-suite and windows need a bit of tlc but looking forward to my next stay 👍

The property is dated, and the facilities in the room are not of a great standard. I was in a top floor room on a very hot day, no air con, no fan and the window was prevented form owning more than an inch (I understand as there was a large drop on the other side). But the room should not be bookable when temperatures rise. A staff member found a fan but made me feel like an annoyance for asking for a fan or the availability of an alternative room. A dated hotel with a dated approach to customer service.
