Crown and Mitre Hotel

Beautiful older hotel—very well maintained. Friendly staff!

Being disabled and not able to park my car in the carparck was not good.

We arrived for an overnight stay at the Crown and mitre on April 30/2025 . The first room we had ( 303 ) wasn’t at all to our liking or what we had expected it was old, tired and in need of some TLC . Thankfully to the Hotel Manager Ellie we moved to a room on the second floor . We were really delighted with our new room on it was evident that this room had been refurbished it also had the most beautiful and comfortable bed we had a great sleep . The Hotel has a fantastic indoor swimming pool and Sauna . We would definitely return the Crown and Mitre ( room on second floor ) as the location is perfect for all the local shops and amenities . The location is excellent and the staff superb. My room was a bit time worn, but quiet and clean for a great night's sleep. Just a few steps to great cafés and restaurants. Definitely visit Bordo Lounge!

Crown and mitre does not disappoint great location even though there is building work going on outside the hotel it doesn’t affect yr break and we will look forward to our next visit when it will be completed, the staff are first class we have got to know them well they can’t do enough for you x

Poor service at reception, took 20 minutes to get someone to open the gate for the car park.

Has secure parking, but a little hard to find the car park entrance; best to call ahead to get the postcode. Staff were helpful, food was good, was a bit quiet but we were staying mid week

Tolles, historisches Hais, toller Service. Einzig das Zimmer ist etwas in die Jahre gekommen, aber es gibt auch bereits renovierte Zimmer.

Impressive architectural features. Stained glass windows and marble walls and floors in the public areas. The guest rooms need some refurbishment and the bathrooms need modernising, but the hotel ambience and excellent service provided by the staff made our stay very enjoyable.

Rooms were not very big, and the place was a bit dated. But the staff were nice and it was clean. Conveniently located to the Town Square, which was being renovated while we were there. Would like to come back and see it when it's finished!

Had stayed there before. This stay was even better.

Central location lovely old hotel with period fetchers

The inside of the hotel was great, but the work going on outside made the experience not good!

The car park took some finding and was locked after 5pm. Rooms are reasonably comfortable and kept clean but ready for some updating. Staff are OK but not very smiley or friendly. Good location in the city centre. The food is ok. Typical 3 star hotel. Some nice architectural features inside.

A lovely venue - the rooms had been carefully designed and well finished and the bed was extremely comfortable. The staff were really friendly and the food of a high standard.

Unfortunate that there are major roadworks going on outside. Not the hotel's fault of course but makes it a bit noisy. Otherwise my stay at the crown and Mitre was very pleasant.
