The conversion of an old, listed building has been carried out to a very high standard. Even though the hotel is located on a busy road junction I had no problem sleeping, comfortable bed. I also liked the fact it was a relatively small hotel, the staff made you feel welcomed and important.

Everything was great except the shower. We experienced an exceptionally warm day and wanted to cool down. The problem was it was like taking a shower under a tap. Low volume, no pressure.

The staff were very friendly but the stay at the hotel was disappointing overall and the hotel was very average to be honest. I had heard great things about it in previous years. Our rooms decor and furnishings were a little tired in places, and the bed was also not overly comfortable. The breakfast was not great and my wife left hers. It was also disappointing that the hotel had closed their onsite bar that used to be available. For the cost of the stay I wish I had paid more and stayed elsewhere. This was a night away for my wife’s birthday so disappointed overall.

Basic room, bathroom and bedsheets were clean but bedroom was very dusty so clearly hadn’t been cleaned properly for a while. Can hear footsteps and water running from upstairs rooms over night, I woke up 3 times over night due to footsteps in room above and I am a deep sleeper usually, but I guess that’s to be expected in an old building. Overall okay stay for the price paid, staff were nice and good location to metros/ bars!

Room was very nice and the bed very comfortable. We had the Charles Grey suite and the layout was a bit interesting, though added to the unique charm of the hotel. Bathroom was immediately inside the entrance and the bedroom was down a flight of narrow stairs. There were other stairs to the suite as well, which made it slightly challenging to navigate with large bags. Know that going in. The shower was perhaps the only complaint. It was a nice, glasses in shower, but the design was a bit poor. If the shower door was not properly closed and the hand wand used, you could end up with water everywhere on the bathroom floor. Awkward really. The lobby was nice, the staff welcoming, and they even had a little plant "library" where you could borrow a plant and take it to the room for your stay. We were only there for one night, but it was a very cozy stay after what amounted to 24 hours of travel for us to get there. We slept like babies. Location was great, only a short walk from the train station and there was lots of shopping and dining options close by.

We absolutely LOVED staying here! We didn’t want to leave :) Upon arrival, we were given an upgrade to a large suite, which after our tiny London hotel, felt like luxury! The bed was so comfortable, the room was quiet and I had one of the best nights sleep I’ve had in a long time! The breakfast included both a continental and hot/made-to-order breakfast and is a great value for money. We would absolutely stay here again!
