Malmaison York

Nice clean rooms, lovely shower, friendly staff. The food wasn’t great for the breakfasts but not terrible. Great location across the river from the city centre and only 5 minutes walk from the train station.

Hotel design is modern, clean and central to York´s attractions. I stayed for 4 nights, the standard rooms are well equipped, great design, and comfortable. It would´ve been nice to have an alternative to coconut biscuits, a variety of teas and a hot chocolate provided. The housekeeping was different standard everyday, one day the bed wasn’t made or the tea cups cleaned, other days it was very good. I ordered a different cooked breakfast every morning, and honestly wouldn’t want any of them twice. The smoked salmon and ´creamy´ scrambled eggs was a wafer thin slice of salmon with very watery eggs, the Eggs California had puréed grey avocado on a soggy muffin, the soft boiled eggs and soldiers were ok, and on the final day I ordered porridge with berries and honey…the porridge arrived minus the berries and had to ask for them again. When they came it was just 4 raspberries in a pot, and by that time the porridge was cold. The breakfast staff were inconsistent in service. Nearer 10am the staff are clearing tables very loudly and banging and crashing plates and cutlery on the trollies. On one day, a member of staff hovered near our table, wished us a friendly ´have a nice day´ when we got up to leave but then pounced to clear away our table. Service finishes at 10am but that doesn't mean hotel guests have to leave promptly at that time. Sadly the spa was closed for refurbishment so it wasn’t possible to take advantage of the hotel´s usual amenities.

Clean, efficient and great location.

Nice, clean, modern hotel, excellent service. Dinner was particularly nice, I had the fish stew (although the padron peppers were slightly undercooked). Good range of options for breakfast. Room was clean, comfortable and spacious but a bit weirdly designed; there was no bathroom, just an individual toilet; the sink felt like it was in the middle of the bedroom and the shower was open to the rest of the room, just the glass door to keep you away from the main room. Not a problem for me as I was by myself, but if I'd been sharing a room with someone it would have definitely been an issue! Also the TV was in a slightly weird position, to the side of the bed, so I got a bit of neck ache when I was watching it.

Staff and food was excellent . We parked in the ncp carpark which is secure and 1 min walk away. Outstanding breakfast and my fillet steak was perfection

Everything was perfect but they do need to put signs on bedroom doors asking people not to let their room door slam shut especially during the night from 1-pm until 4.30am people coming in and letting their doors slam shut my partner who was on her own in the hotel didn’t sleep due to the disturbances

The bedding was ripped. The room was dated and impractical. No proper coffee machine for the price I expected more

The staff were fantastic and friendly and the hotel was absolutely gorgeous and had everything we needed for our stay

Very convenient location for railway and town

Problems with smelly toilets drains but clean and well appointed though building site next door very noisey and not advertised

Family room was lovey, beds so comfy

Location excellent all within walking distance, from train station,never used the gym, stayed 2 nights went to Grand Theatre beautiful theatre. Gorgeous city, York walls disappointing as you cant walk the whole way around there not complete and at one point we were looking how to rejoin them. Also walls have a shear drop to the side no barrier wirh areas of wall walk very narrow Another area we were walking on pavement along 4 lanes of traffic. Chester walls complete able to walk whole way around with walls either side of the path.Minster really worth a visit. This hotel has an excellent Japanese restaurant Sora this was amazing. Also had a brilliant saxophonist on the saturday night highly recommend will

Great location. All good at hotel but being so modern , hotel lacks character of some of the nearby older hotels.

What a smashing hotel. From start to finish our stay was so enjoyable. The staff were very pleasant and helpful both on reception and in the bar and eating areas. We booked the Club room for our stay. It was spacious with a lovely big comfortable bed and a great monsoon shower. We had breakfast included in our 2 night stay and it was absolutely worth it. Plenty to choose from and the cooked breakfast was delicious, good quality produce. Walk out the doors and over the bridge and you're there to all the shops, bars and the wonderful York Minster. A great hotel and we'll definitely stay here again. 10/10
