Novotel Sheffield Centre

This hotel really did represent value for money on a weekend where the city was busy due to a famous comedian performing. The hotel is central and only a five minute walk from the train station. Staff helpful, communal spaces lovely for a drink in the evening. Room was roomy shower powerful with lovely toiletries provided - only one bath towel provided for 2 of us but that will have been an oversight and guess what we coped. The breakfast was ok I had to ask for more bread which then was provided, not a great selection of fresh fruit to go with yogurt but yet again we coped don’t know if that represented value for money. However the setting is nice. Would stay here again.

No air con. No air. Roll down bed very uncomfortable. Lumpy pillows. Awoken by distressed person sitting in corridor shouting and crying. Very poor sleep. Pool side dirty. Bar staff rude.

Firs time staying here, pool was great and you need to book a time slot, the room nice and clean, it would be good if there were net curtains, staff were friendly , breakfast was okay. Would definitely stay here again

Great location and very nice staffs. Breakfast is classic British style. We are family of 4 with young children. However, there is no AC in rooms, so be aware of burning warm rooms in hot days. Our room has a very inefficient fridge, so it was not easy even just to keep milk for baby fresh. Other than that it is a great hotel.

This hotel is in an excellent location and has many good amenities. It is clean and comfortable, has a nice swimming pool and a good bar. The staff are friendly and helpful and, depending on the cost, I would definitely consider staying here again.

Decent stay over all. Room service and gym facilities great. Rooms need updating and a thorough deep clean. Staff friendly and helpful. Parking very convenient however quite over priced. Very good location

Good location, dated property, no water provided in the room, friendly staff.

Pros: parking and good central location. Well priced. Cons: tired and dated rooms. Too warm despite turning the thermostat right down. Helped by opening window but loud road noise so not ideal. No bottled water in the room. Got phoned by reception at 7.15 am to come to our room to access the safe and retrieve the passports of previous guests! Not the wake up call I wanted on what was supposed to be a relaxing weekend. Staff member was lovely and very apologetic and offered us free breakfast. nice gesture but not one that was of any use to us. Check out the following day - no questions asked about our stay - I had to ask who I could give feedback to. Just not very interested and no other compensation or gesture for poor stay offered. Won't be back!

The parking was good. The room we had needed a bit of updating. The toilet was separate from the bathroom. The fittings in the bath where broken the sealant around the bath and shower door needed re doing. Overall we enjoyed our stay. The reception area was lovely. The hotel was very central

Room in need of a refurb and dated. Aircon did not work and room was unbearably hot. We asked about aircon at reception and were told there is none and to use the fan in the wardrobe. The fan made no difference. We had the window open and it was unbearably hot and we did not sleep well due to the heat and from the noise outside. We were woken in the early hours by car horns from the road and the dustbin men around 6am being very noisy. We would avoid staying here again.

I held off posting this review as I sent the hotel a email first but it’s been nearly a week without a response for them to address my stay directly Very disappointed in my stay. Was given keys to an occupied room and shocked both myself and whoever was in the bed on entry. Given no explanation of what happened and no goodwill gesture for this distressing experience Furthermore the room was way too hot, despite leaving windows open all day, the pillows were dreadful all lumpy and breakfast selection limited, poor quality and cold This is the first time I’ve felt the need to post a review of any hotel but a four star hotel that cost me a lot of money I would have expected much better service. The main thing driven me to post this is the occupied room on arrival and the lack of any compensation provided for this experience.

No power in first room but moved quickly then no issues. Good breakfast with the usual choices on offer.

The room was spacious and clean. The bed was very comfortable. We arrived at breakfast after 9am (10am finish) and the hot offering was a bit depleted but there was something of everything except eggs, which a member of staff cooked extra for us. We would definitely stay again.

It was very central and staff were great. I believe the hotel is being refurbished slowly so some fixtures and fittings were not finished. I would definitely recommend this hotel.
