Great location

Mia and Katerina at the front desk are very helpful and made the difference in our stay.

1) Great location, next to Tromso Prostneset and Tromso harbour where Brim Explorer meeting point is located, so very convenient for travelling around by public transport and going on whale watching tour. Also very close to shopping areas. 2) Breakfast was delish, with a very large spread, including a live cooking station for omelette, which was great! 3) Just one problem with breakfast timing - would be good if breakfast hours on weekdays (not only on weekends) could be extended to past 9:30 am. Many people go to Tromso for northern lights tours, which typically end past midnight. So, breakfast hours which end later in the morning will allow people to have more sleep and still have breakfast. 4) We booked a standard room which was clean and spacious enough for 2 large luggages. Toilet shower area had a small stand to place guests' personal toiletries, which was very much appreciated. 5) Just one problem - on the 1st day, we found that the water flow in the bathroom sink was slow and the next morning, we informed reception, who promised to look into it. However, when we returned the same day, there was no improvement to the water flow, which continued to be slow for the rest of our stay - we stayed 4 nights. We did not bother to inform reception again since nothing seemed to have been done. Would have been good for hotel to have fixed it.

Carpets need to be changed

The breakfast was excelent with more choise than I have ever seen, freom fresh sliced. Melon to fully cooked via bread and jams and cereal. The reception was always manned and the staff were always had a smile and were very helpful. Position was central and a short walk to the centre.

Lovely staff. Young lady who checked us in mentioned she was new, particularly friendly. Door lock wasn’t amazing, could be opened from the outside and within the room despite being locked. We didn’t contact the front desk since we noticed on the final night. I think the doors should be tested regularly after a room clean or some other basis. Also expected a safe in the room due to hotel description (safe in reception) but there wasn’t one. Would benefit guests if this was included. Amazing stay at the edge though. Lovely breakfast, rooms were nice as was the convenience of the hotel.

Getting it right

Excellent location for Tromso, right on the harbour. Good 4 star hotel. Free tea and coffee in lobby. Good breakfast. Staff excellent. Restaurant exceptional. Views stunning, rooms basic but fine, standard 4*. Rituals toiletries in the bathroom. Note the gym is not on site and is a 5 min walk away at a 24 hour, very well equipped local gym. The walk is extremely icy on unheated pavements just to beware. Easy to get round Tromso from here and is right by a shopping mall. If I stayed in Tromso again I would stay here.

The room was very clean and comfortable, the breakfast was amazing, the location is superb and the view from the room over to Tromsdalen and the Artic cathedral will stay with us forever.

Room was like a cupboard. Drafty windows with the bed positioned right by the window (tried 2 rooms- the same experience); room thermostat did not respond and kept the room at 18C. They did provide a heater at request. No food provided in the evening; Christmas buffet was booked up so tough, they said go out to find something. No compensation of any kind offered at checkout. Also incredibly expensive.

Great breakfast however there was no ventilation

Absolutely amazing stay here. The room was great, comfortable beds. Incredible breakfast choice, with fresh meats and fruit in plenty. Location was also spot on, super close to the ferry point and middle of town - actually couldn’t fault it!
