Cinnamon Lakeside Colombo

Please find somewhere else. This is a company that is very well known in sri lanka. We staed at cinnamon lakeside super room......with no lake view. Apparently thats more. It was £200 for 2 nights. A Monday and Tuesday. No breakfast. Pretty much same as london price and same room, minus sick stain on wall and floor (fingers really crossed it was sick). Ooooo and the worst bit (for me....appreciate its not going to bother everyone). No balcony and couldnot open windows so for 3 days / 2 nights we had a/c on constant. Now both have smokers cough. Great. There are just better places to stay to be honest. With better food and a better vibe. Wasnt great

Staff did not control loud young children running around lobby even late at night. The acclimed and expensive Royal Thai had 2 unruly children loud and vlimbing furniture and running in and out which disturbed our meal. Room tv did not work despite drawing this to the attention of reception twice

Great amenities, great ambiance, love the feel. Great breakfast too. Loved the variety and choice. The Sri Lankan selection was great. Staff are very friendly and courteous. But the front desk employees seem not empowered at all. Had to check every minor thing, including the Expedia voucher with back office. The electronic key card had to be changed 3 times and it still failed to work regularly. Room cleaning staff always forgot to leave something including water. But they fix all the mistakes very promptly and my experience was positive. Will definitely stay again.

Housekeeping staff should get a better training room was clean towels missing almost everyday. Front office good Staff very friendly variety & taste of food excellent. Gym & sauna good. Concierge good. Pool area need a cosmetic treatment

Really nice hotel. Outside looks a bit old but very nice on the inside. Wasn't a fan of the green carpets. Most staff are very nice. Only issue is that the colombar is really loud late at night when trying to sleep. Overall i'd come back

I am trying hard not to be negative because I want them to do well. However there were a number of mishaps and experiences that made my experience not so great. After dinner at the Chinese restaurant at the hotel, I wanted to go in to the outside patio bar to get a cocktail and listen the live music - they didn’t let me in because I was wearing my Birkenstocks. They told me that all men had to wear shoes because a lot of gangsters come in flip flops and make trouble. I was disappointed that after being a paying guest at the hotel, they didn’t have a system in place to accommodate already screened guests. I had no problem eating at he most expensive restaurants at the property wearing my sandals. Ironically, Sri Lankan national costume for men is a long sleeve shirt, sarong and flip flops or sandals. Matter of fact most prominent politicians in Sri Lanka wear flip flops! My night continued to go down as I moved to the lobby bar with my family to have night cap before calling it a night. All I wanted was a sugar shot of whiskey and not a double which I reiterated to the waiter at least twice - he kept asking me if I wanted a double. Anyway, the two of us received our single shot of Glenlivet 12 yo and enjoyed it. I asked to settle the bill and they said they didn’t have anything on record of me ordering anything but overcharged me by double the price and never apologized. Although I settled the bill in full, I felt taken advantage of.

Good staff. Buffet is average. Spacious rooms.

Very pleasant stay loved it will definitely come back

This is a decent hotel but not excellent I would say. Looks old and needs lot of attention to finer aspects of the rooms and building. Location is certainly very good if you have a lake view room. Pool is also good and large. Food is average with very less sitting space as compared to the room accommodation ( I had my B/F standing all the time ). I had to call for proper toilet kits all the time... Over all not very bad but not very good as well... to stay if you get a good price deal.

Rooms look dated. My room had a few flying insects every now and then. Bathroom had multiple steps. Which was inconvenient. Water was too hot to shower.

The hotel in general is excellent however they run very loud club style events in the outside restaurant until 1am to 2am and any room facing the lake is almost shaking with the noise, so if you stay and don’t want to party then ask for a room not facing the lake. Zero sleep had after a long haul flight from uk and with early train next day so felt like a very expensive sleepless night.

Great service at the Executive Lounge.

I chose Cinnamon Lakeside for the last 2 nights of my stay as this is the hotel my daughter was staying at. We only had breakfast and a cup of tea, but these were fine.

Good upgrade offered. Great sunrise view from the room. Great breakfast.
