Cinnamon Lakeside Colombo

Great stay here on my first night in Sri Lanka. Really clean, modern, and everything you would expect from a hotel of this quality. It's also very close to Colombo Fort station which is useful if you are going to continue the trip by train! I didn't use the pool but had a drink there and it looks great - one note was that the service was quite slow! Breakfast options were vast. Would definitely stay here again.

This is a large and busy hotel, quite convenient to the train station, and situated on one of Colombo's lovely lakes. It felt like a Vegas property, absent the casinos. My room was okay -- reasonably comfortable and business like. The big attraction are the numerous restaurants, shops and entertainment options. Plus, a pool that is open to 9 p.m. My favorite thing was swimming in the huge, almost entirely empty pool, under the night sky, with the giant Lotus Flower Tower all lit up overhead. I also had a great dinner at the buffet restaurant. I only stayed a night between arrival from a train in the late afternoon until an early morning flight the next day. This was a solid choice for that.

Excellent property.

Though our stay was tolerable, we would never stay here again.

From GM to the room service the staff are

This is a fancy place, the lobby reminded me of a cruise ship. There was even live music! The swimming pool is large and pristine, and you can watch a variety of birds in the river while you soak in the pool. The staff is friendly and accommodating, the facilities are first class and the dinner buffet is amazing.

O hotel Cinnamon Lake, no Sri Lanka, decepciona em vários aspectos, especialmente pelo valor cobrado e pelo nível que promete. Algumas partes do hotel parecem antigas e menos modernas do que outras opções na região. A equipe de housekeeping faz um ótimo trabalho, mas, apesar disso, os lençóis com buracos e o carpete tinham áreas visivelmente encardidas, o que comprometeu a sensação de limpeza. A comida é extremamente cara, e o café da manhã tem um preço exagerado. Outro grande problema foi a internet – o sinal era péssimo, e só consegui uma solução após insistir para que me fornecessem um roteador. No geral, não recomendo este hotel. Há opções na cidade que são mais modernas, limpas e com menos trânsito de pessoas pra todo lado em que não se sabe quem é hóspede quem está ali de passagem

It’s not really this hotel but there was an electrical issue in the room I was booked into so they moved me to another hotel close by. That hotel was not as nice and put me in a twin room when I had paid for a king. Then they finally moved me to another room that is connected to other guests. Not worth what I paid for at all. Unimpressed.

Lovely property, very helpful and friendly staff. Comfortable rooms, great location. Relaxing and enjoyable.

Quite a large room. Very clean and comfortable bed. Free breakfast buffet had many choices. Very large swimming pool, steam room and sauna made it a perfect stay.

Got a voucher for 12 usd when I made me reservation. No one noticed that and I had to argue with restaurants that n the area and still they could not solved it. For the future it is much better if you give the guests a paper voucher as they do at the sister hotel cinnamon red when you Check in. Also a difference when the staff of cleaning make the room, sometimes toothbrush and refill of water and other days not. The “night club” Colobar is a bit is a problem since they plays loud music outside and the music can be heard in the rooms, that is not what you wish for a hotel like this. Improvement please on this! Still this is one of my favorite hotels in Sri Lanka but I also think it needs a renovation.

I booked one week stay at Cinnamon lakeside in December of 2024. It was absolutely perfect in every way. Joshua at the reception was particularly just great in his service approach, and he was kind enough to also provide for me a room upgrade for which I am so grateful. I was so well received and looked after by all the staff at the hotel and even though it was close to Christmas and the hotel was exceptionally busy, the staff handled the crowds of guests and everything professionally and with a smile at all times. I had a really wonderful experience and I am already looking forward to returning a next time. Extra plus points for this hotel are: As a female solo traveller, you are received in a very professional way without the unnecessary chitchatting and sometimes overly friendly manner I have unfortunately encountered in other hotels on the island, so this is something I especially appreciated as I felt 100% relaxed. Other plus points are: the variety of restaurants and different seating areas. It is located on a lake and I enjoyed morning walks by the lakeside, bird watching and seeing quite a bit of wildlife and also activity on the lake. A garden manager particularly took me on a round to show me the wildlife and we spotted a monitor lizard, water snake, amongst other things. I also enjoyed the hotel’s hairdresser salon, which was so conveniently located, just take the elevator right down. Laundry service was also great.

Only negative thing was the carpet in the room, not good for asthmatic.

All the staffs are great. And the service also great. Only thing is using key card in the elevator is terrible.

Absolutely smashing hotel to chill at end of tour of Sri Lanka. Amazing choice of dining options, very friendly staff and pool to die for.

Check in process was slow and took about 25 mins. It seemed that there was constantly some sort of private party in the pool area with incredibly loud music which could be heard throughout the hotel even into the early hours of the morning. Doors to rooms were not sound proofed at all. Rooms were a good size but not the cleanest. Staff were very friendly however.

Good service, friendly staff, great location. Been staying at the same hotel for all my trips to Sri Lanka, Royal Thai is the best restaurant i have been to for Thai food in Sri Lanka. Must try.
